Elder Scrolls Online will lock-out people with used or rented copies.

If you can just buy a key I will be happy. I had planned to get this so I could play it and my son as well. If I can just get a activation key for him then I will only need one copy still.

how is this still on the front page? the game came out in 2011, it will never be updated or get more dlc ever again for the consoles. if you want more content play the pc version or buy elder scrolls online, because we won't get another elder scrolls game
until around 2020, maybe 2018 if fallout 4 comes out this year.

If my memory serves me right, didn't MS remove the family sharing plan because they decided to ease up on the restrictions they tried to impose on used games? Yeesh MS, way to make friends, again.

 

I think they should allow you to purchase a key for a nominal fee of 5 to 10 bucks of you acquire a used copy. They are going to alienate a decent amount of people this way.

 

Aren't they charging a monthly fee to play anyway? Seems like they would want to give the main game download away for free to get people stuck in their monthly pay web. I'm starting to think MS needs to be on an episode of American Greed.

Well good. I'm sure people would rather spend money on “convenience and customization items” of their choice.

 

I bet it's partly because of it. Plus the fact a monthly fee would keep many from getting it. I know I was not going to get it because of that.

I just hope Besthesda won't create a new policy : If you didn't bought ESO,you're not allowed to play any other Bestheda games.

Oh, I guess I've been a bit quick to assume MS was behind it, but glad to hear it's free to play now. Still not interested though. I don't like endless games.

 

so what if you have a family of kids and multiple xbox ones in the home, sorry but i don't justify buying multiple copies of the same game for one household of my kids.

 

Disc based MMO's have always done this, it's not a new trend. Each purchase has a code to activate your online account included with the disc.

It's a MMO. The developers are paying for servers, GM's, support staff, etc etc. When you drop the monthly subscription it's even more important to get something upfront to keep the game running, updated and providing content.

When it's done right you get World of Warcraft ( and even they are currently struggling to keep players) or EQ, when there isn't an income for the game you get Neverwinter.
