An insider's input on tiled Resources.

As the SDKs continue to update, the use of ESRAM will be seamless.

  6. Developers can use the tiled resources for certain things like lighting to save on a lot of bandwidth. It's basically the Cloud computing we've been hearing about and seeing already. Effective use of the esram ;)

  9. I look at it in simplistic terms - as literal layers. Rather than have 1 thing do everything, the XB1 has multiple layers where each 1 does only a few things. This helps unload the burden of everything at once and helps makes things run smoother and faster.

Pretend you're at a super rest stop with a restaurant, gas station, supply store, etc. with only a single, average-sized parking lot - anybody who wants any of that will stop by and get what they need, making it a very busy and often congested place (this
represents other consoles) - the heavy traffic could slow everyone down if they all show up at once.

In contrast, now think of not a rest stop, but rather a chain of stores next to each other. One is a gas station, one is a supply store, another is a restaurant, and so on... Each one gets its own set of customers regularly and doesn't get as bogged down
with heavy traffic because each also has its own parking lot, but each one can still drive business to the other nearby stores (that's the Xbox One) without bogging everything down.
