1. Eero Problems

    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. We recently switched wifi networks and the wifi was fine after the switch except for one room on the other side of the house. So, we decided to buy an eero system. It has helped tremendously with all
other parts of the house, including the room that previously had problems, but now the room with my Xbox is having a ton of problems. When I check network speed and statistics I have a latency of around 70 and 0% packet loss, but as soon as I get into a game
my ping shoots to the 300s on average but will sometimes even go to the 900s. It says I have a 5 bar connection and that I have a 100% connection to the wireless network but unfortunately it does not act like it. I do not have a port for an Ethernet
cable, I already checked. I have also changed my DNS settings (which seemed to help at first but now seems the same as before) and a lot of other little things in my Xbox. If anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it!

    :)

Denislav Rashkov (eero Customer Support)Jan 25, 5:26 AM CSTHey Philip,Thank you for reporting your friend's interesting issue! This is Denis from eero Support and it's a pleasure to take a look into that for you and him.First of all, can you please provide me with the following information, as the email that you are contacting us from is not linked to an eero account. That's why I would really appreciate if you provide me your friend's credentials to find his network details and better assist you.· What is the most recent speed test result from the eero app?· What are the eero location names?· What is the email or phone number on the account? This information can be found from the eero app.

All my speed tests that run daily are more or less the same and around 55M Down and 7M Up as seen here

Location Names are Hallway (which is a beacon) and Kitchen (an EERO Pro). During our tests, I even disconnected the Hallway one since beacons are dual band while EERO Pro is tri band.

I'm using my hotmail email address as credential for EERO so you can share with EERO support the same email address you are seeing here. Not writing it either here for privacy and I presume you can see my email attached to my user name or you can simply
loop me on the email thread with that email so I can continue from there.

Secondly, I would like to start with a few basic questions to better understand the origin of the issue:1) How does he have the network setup physically?· For example: Does his modem connect to the primary gateway eero and then to another device such as a switch? If so, what's the exact make and model of the switch.2) What's the exact make and model of his Xbox?3) Is there any error message when failing offline or trying to connect the Xbox? Please keep me informed in order to get to the bottom of this issue together, we're always here at your disposal.

in regards to EEROs questions

    1) Modem connects to Main EERO Pro directly. no other device on topology. I have a second EERO beacon and that's it. no other thing on the topology.

    2) XBOX 360 S

    3) no errors during usage, just slow downloads and streaming failing to play smoothly for example on youtube or netflix with buffering or waiting wheel several times.

    In regards to our case

As mentioned before, this is not an EERO issue since I had this same issue on the previous TP-LINK 1043ND both with stock firmware and running gargoyle custom firmware.

Furthermore, while my EERO was being replaced on warranty 6 months ago, I was using the ISP provided modem as router too since it has tri band wifi capabilities, now turned off and on bridge mode obviously, and I had issues with that one too.

I can even go back to ISP modem/router and disable EERO if needed for testing purposes and do it all over if you like so we can drop off the EERO issue since the problem is not there.

Again, I have strong reasons to believe a software update on XBOX was the one that caused the malfunctioning on the embedded wireless and since then, failing consistently with every wireless router I have or had.

I would suggest you continue the conversation directly with Denislav via *** Email address is removed for privacy ***I wish I could be a part of this troubleshooting but of course would just be in the way. Please let me know what you find out.Good luck (and Si, Alfajores Havanna de chocolate rellenos de dulce de leche. Pero, por supuesto, tendría que venir allí para compartir con usted y yerba mate.)Take care and look forward to what you find out.

I can take the conversation where you left with EERO but since there's no contact method or ticket number unless you send me privately over my email, I would have to start over on their support channel and again, just to confirm EERO works fine. I would
anyway like to follow up with them in case there's any logs they can check from their side that can provide more insight on whats going on the packet transmit between these 2 devices that can help us to really troubleshoot the XBOX

Please keep working with me on the XBOX side while I see if we can get any insights from EERO side but again, I can remove EERO from the middle to confirm issue is not there but on XBOX wireless adapter or it's driver.

About the Alfajores, my father lives in California and will come visit and back there in 6 months so there's always a way to make you some there. Sadly we won't share them in person but virtually.

Routers Used on Your Home Network.

I had been using the R7000 behind my ISPs gateway for years and recently switched to an Eero mesh system. No problems with NAT with multiple Xbox systems in the house and everything appears to be working great.

Wireless Repeaters/Range Extenders: Switched to EERO networking and now no Wireless.

So I'm not able to connect to my wifi at all! The Eero uses WPA2 PSK AES and the XBox One X only supports WPA/WPA2 (personal), and WEP. I'm hoping this can be updated soon, but in the meantime, I need to figure out how to get a wired connection to my console...

Eero has said they won't support the change to the protocol either...

You are on the right path. Bypassing the EERO is a great idea. I don't believe the EERO is not working as it should, just fear that their load balancing could be affecting the Xbox communication. I understand from EERO that there is a kind of QoS/load balancing,
but I clearly do not know what type or how it is configured.

As far as the Xbox WiFi goes, the problem could very well be there. From what I have gleamed it is pretty standard on handling dropped packets and retries, though from what you say the signal strength is good so I am not focusing on that. I also assume you
have made sure there are no refrigerators or fans (it is summer there) in the path or the same house circuit. Also the complete reboot (removing power for more than 10 seconds clears the registers for communications.

Lastly as for NAT, again EERO is in the loop. Your test with wireless and without EERO will be very revealing.

Also paying attention to the dropped packet percentage as well as the latency with each test is crucial. Keep me informed of course, as I you. The best tactic is still to simplify the path.

And as far as a ticket number goes, there was not one assigned, though I am sure David will know who you are.

    Back to the grind!

As for the alfejores, I was only reminiscing. I actually get Havannas here via Amazon and make my own dulce de leche. Price is $21 for 12 (which lasts about a week) so they are a once a year treat!
