    I am trying to edit my child's name and info on my family account. I have followed the directions as far as logging into my account and going to edit my child's profile it then takes me to a page that says manage permissions and says that changes have
    been made in the US then has a link to manage restrictions but will not allow me to edit his name or anything like the instructions say it does.

    Hi there, you wouldn't change an account name through the manage family tab.

    To change your child's name you will have to sign into their microsoft account and edit the name from the settings on that specific account.

    Are you part of a family plan? I have profiles in my family plan that have that same issue, while this one (the primary account) still has access to edit the bio.

    I did. Only lets me edit my name, not his in our family account.

    @op very important did you edit the online safety settings or was it just the family settings

    yes there is a difference

    online safety settings set purchases and ratings

    family settings prevent certain games from being played

    so if you just edited the family settings it won't help unless you goto the family settings and online safety settings

    the only thinmg this does not effect is the advertising like m rated demos and trailers as they are advertising not purchased games

    and fall under advertising laws
