Echo in party and game chat

Hi there, I know this question has been asked a thousand times, but still there is no solution or fix.

Anyway, here we go.

When me and one specific friend play online together, I can always hear myself with a 1 second delay. When they mute their mic, no echo. TV volume is muted, we tried multiple headsets, we used multiple controllers, we used the mic adapter and without, made
sure all controllers are updated, nothing helps this issue. Right now we are on the same network, both on Xbox One X consoles.

Any advice? I really hope this issues get resolved with the new hardware later this year.

it depends who is hearing the echo.

if you are hearing an echo then it is most likely that someone else in your party has their mic gain too high and has party chat through their TV or too loud in their headphones. check whose name shows when you hear the echo.

they would need to turn down party chat volume and/or change their mic sensitivity

Hi there

I've had this issue with some headsets as well as when the sound in settings go through both TV & Headset. So I would first have to ask if those settings are set up like that and What model of device is it that has caused this issue.

I also have issues with a friend and echo. This really seems related to the headset they use.

That friend's cat chewed through their headset cable, and he had to use a different one, and I always heard myself VERY CLEARLY with a slight delay. This made it

After he replaced his headphones with the standard Xbox mono-chat headset, the echo was gone.

If your friend just switches from one kind of headsets (e.g. he has multiple phone headsets like the cable Apple Earbuds), they might all give you an Echo, but if he switches to a completely different type of headset, like the original Xbox chat headset,
the Echo should go away.

If he wants to have a headphone that also supports game sound, he might have to do some trial and error to find a headset that works without Echo. Or get a certified Xbox One compatible headset. For example, personally I use a Plantronics RIG400HX, which
is a reasonably priced headset, with excellent quality.

Is it possible that their mic is simply picking up your voice when you talk?

I have had problems with the echo several times when I play with friends, what we have done to solve it is to check the headphones, usually it is a problem with them. It is usually a false contact of the wiring or that the headset is with the configuration
of very high voice volume generating an echo. If not, it could be that if Kinect is on or something like that. It is always a problem of the headset, very rarely of the control or the network and the problem has always been the person who echoes not those
who listen to it
