Earth Needs You

"Earth Defense Force: 2017" is one of the greatest XBox 360 games ever made.

It looks terrible, almost basic, but this is contrived and fits it's "Science Fiction B Movie" style perfectly.

Tons of weapons. Tons of enemies. The ability to destroy everything. The game also offers possibly the greatest Split Screen experience on the XBox 360.

They made a sequel but palmed it of to a different developer and it was poor in comparisson to the original.

This Friday "Earth Defense Force: 2525" releases.

Made by the same developer who brought us the original 360 version.

Split screen fun is till there but you now have Online Co-Op for up to 4 players against the Alien hordes.

Earth needs you.

The first game was like this one a budget title. It played well enough and I found it quite fun with minimal issues etc.

 

We can save the world without you.

It's probably better if you don't handle firearms!

 

I used to go hunting regularly in real life, I have quite an aim I'll have you know...

 

The first one was awesome as anyone who's played it can attest to.

The second one looks awesome. Time will tell.

... but this is the 3rd one on xbox.... not the second.....

The first was awesome. The second was OK. Doubt I'll get this one though.

(there's actually been 5 or 6 in the franchise as far as I recall, but one was a strategy game)

 

They started out on the Playstation I believe.

Sandlot made "Earth Defense Force: 2017" which is a blast. It's my wife's favourite game on the 360.

"Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon" was a different developer and had some nice ideas but didn't capture the same mood as the orginal.

Sandlot have made "Earth Defense Force: 2025" and most reviews are saying if you loved 2017 you'll love this.

To quote Ranger 6 from the first game:

"They're a herd of people eating monsters... we can't let them have their way"!

 

Wow.

This game is as much fun as "Titanfall".

Even early doors but with the weapons available now the battles are epic.

It doesn't look as good as "Titanfall". It chugs at times when there's bazzillions of enemies on screen and massive explosions happening left right and centre.

But it is hands down one of the most entertaining games you'll play on the 360.

Why?

Tons of enemies... some of which you have to see to believe.

Tons of weapons... many of which you have to see to believe.

It's not high brow gaming. It's not realistic gaming. It's not introspective gaming. It's just blowing the crap out of tons of stuff that ain't you.

Pretty simple straightforwards gameplay but this time with bells and whistles.

The different classes and multiple difficulty levels mean tons of replay and online with your friends is even better.

People are quick to complain and writing this off after 1 level because it doesn't look as good as "Gears Of War" would be such a shame it should be criminal.

You really should give it a go if you get the chance.

It's just Az being leftfield as usual, championing the games everyone else knows to avoid. The first 360 incarnation was bad and I have a feeling t*rds can't be polished! But fair play to you for still supporting the 360.
