Nobody has forced anybody to buy anything, if you dropped launch money on the XB1 at launch then you did so because you wanted too, no point crying now and demanding MS somehow appease you for buying it at launch, you all got what you wanted, a launch XB1
and a day one achievement, be happy with what you got, it's what you willingly paid for, and the time frame for the price cut is irrelevant, there is no minimum price cut obligation clause for buying a XB1, so enjoy it as you have been for the last 6 months.

 

@Omega man, that is your opinion, why should that stop others feeling different? And nobody said people were forced to buy kinect just that if people had known 6 months down the line you could buy one without they would have waited.

Other systems have given compensation for similar things so why the idea of a free game seems so astounding to some is beyond me. I remember getting Undertow when xbox live was down for like 4 days so there is precedent. Plus if you dont ask you dont get
right?

 

Why should anybody "Feel different" now, they threw money at MS for a launch console, obviously that £400 plus price point was not a issue six months ago, nor was the Kinect in the box a issue, so why is it a issue now.

So again why should MS again reward XB1 launch owners, they already go their rewards, they got a launch XB1, a special achievement and the ability to play the XB1 for the last 6 months, what more is it they think they are entitled too?

 

I flat out said to Omega and Boas and everyone else "there wont be a Kinectless console" I was wrong, I paid my money out on launch. Am I dissapointed they have gone back and released one? Yes. Do I blame MS nope. My money, my choice.

 

Who knows, maybe Microsoft will offer some form of "thank you" down the line, maybe a free game, few months Xbox LIVE but I certainly don't feel anyone is "entitled" to something. Like has been said, it was everyone's own choice to part with their cash whether
they was happy or not with the price/Kinect.

Like Omega Man said above, personally I've had my reward for the last 6 months, ok not everyone is enjoying it or as pleased with it as I am, same can be said for anything we buy, some will be happy, others won't, chance we take.

Yeap, entitled to something, NO!, but a gesture from MS is a whole different thing, if it comes, good enough, if not, nobody has lost anything.

Possible because people where led into believing that the Kinect would have a position of primacy in the development of XO software, thereby justifying the cost. But if it's not an integral feature of XO then it's considerably less likely that the Kinect
will be used for any innovative technology on the platform because of the associated risk of fragmenting and alienating the XO's install base.

So yeah, it's a problem.

 

Also, is it possible for early XO models to have the Kinect detached?

 

Microsoft removed the requirement for Kinect to be connected to the One with the day one patch I believe.

 

@zfair. That's exactly why it's not a problem for me I never wanted Kinect primarily for use with games, I wanted it as different and unique way to control the console and it performs that function perfectly. I couldn't care a jot if no games are developed
for it.

I wish i had customers throwing about £400 plus on my console, with hardly any launch games, which themselves cost £45/50 a pop, who were also willing to pay extra for a device that was optional on the last system, and at best offered menu and chat, and
at worst offered shovelware Nintendo motion control rip off games, which at launch were in short supply.

But i suppose some people, even after the got burned before, and even after people warned them they would get burned, and even all the warning signs around the fire telling them they would get burned, continued to stick the hand in the fire. lol

 

I will be interested to see how well the Kinect sells when it becomes optional. Like or hate the first one, I believe it sold quite well.

I know it's only one shop but my local GAME said the PS4 camera hasn't sold bad up to yet, better than they expected it to. I was one of the customers, got one for my daughters PS4 lol

 

The original Kinect sold in massive numbers and the PS4 camera was sold out everywhere as demand outstripped initial supply, I read it was being sold at overinflated prices by some outlets because it has been hard to get hold of.

There's an independent shop near me, he always gets the games early, Wolfstein he had the week before, Thursday I believe, was selling it for £60.

I dread to think what he was selling the PS4 camera for.

 

It would be ironic if Kinect V2 standalone sales went through the roof.
