  1. Earbuds and Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter

Hi. I'm trying to find a good pair of earbuds to work with my Xbox One to chat. The default Xbox One headsets constantly break, and I can't be bothered to buy a stereo headset because they hurt the side of my head since I wear thick glasses. I prefer
earbuds. So, I only really own iPhone 4s earbuds. They work, but the microphone part does not. I use the old Xbox One controller with the headset adapter thingy. Is there ANY (and I mean ANY) workaround to this? Why does the microphone part not work? I don't
have money to buy new stuff, so please help! Thanks Earbuds and Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter :).

EDIT: Also, 90% of the time I plug in my Stereo Headset Adapter to my controller, the controller turns off. The batteries are fine, double AA, alkaline and everything. Trust me, I checked everything. The controller shouldn't be breaking this soon,
I usually keep good care of it.

    :)

  2. headset

    Could go for the official
    Xbox One Stereo Headset
. I've seen it on sale for $50 different places over the last month. Another option is you can get the headset adapter and any 3.5mm headset or earbuds designed for a cell phone that uses the CTIA plug standard and you will
get game and chat audio right through the controller.

How to use stereo headphones and microphone on xbox one?

I have an elite controller with the jack. Can you be more specific? I was thinking of buying the stereo headset adapter, but would I be able to adjust the voice volume in the headset, or just in the earbuds?

Any stereo headset (earbuds included) should work if they have a 4pole 3.5mm connector.

Have you already updated your controller and Stereo Headset adapter ?

  5. Hi GamerChris,

There are actually two different industry formats for the 3.5 mm jack: OMTP and CTIA. You'll want to make sure that your earbuds are CTIA-compliant. There is also mention of an OMTP to CTIA adapter on the Xbox support page for 'compatible headsets':

Connecting a compatible headset to Xbox One

Scroll down that page to the "Standards for audio jacks" portion for more-specific info.

    Cheers!

    Muted xbox headset

Perhaps trying another headset or earbuds if you have some lying around since that's more inexpensive than the Stereo Headset Adapter.

Xbox One X - After update my controller dosen't detect any headset I plug in and there is no sound.

    Hi there,

What is the specific headset you are plugging into the adapter?

Headset's, headphones, or earbuds with stereo sound will have the ability to have game audio along with chat volume that is adjusted with the adapter or in the "Audio" settings that will only appear when plugging into the 3.5mm port which you have confirmed
was the issue with the original controller.

There are some headsets however that do not have stereo sound and are strictly only meant to chat with others, and are usually referred to as chat headsets. These tend to only have one earpiece whereas stereo headsets will have two.

If you have a stereo headset/headphones plugged into the adapter, then the chat mixer slider that is usually found in the "Audio" settings will be controlled on the adapter with the game controller icon button indicating the game audio volume and the button
with the icon of a person indicates the chat audio volume.
