    hollowDoubt your Turtle Beach Headsets will not fully function even if Dolby Digital 5.1 comes in a future update. Let me explain you will have to buy a Titanfall Ear Force Atlas official gaming headset, Ear Force XO Seven or Ear Force XO Four which have
    the new Microsoft Xbox One Audio Adapter bundled. These Headphones are tuned to provide the highest quality audio from the Xbox One™ Audio Adapter as well as a tethered not wireless chat connection. The individual Microsoft Xbox One Audio Adapter will be released
    to Xbox 360 third party headset manufacturers sometime after the release of the next gen. headsets. Now here is where Microsoft have thrown us a major curve ball, you cannot use the DD5.1 sound at the same time as you have the Xbox One™ Audio Adapter plugged
    into your Xbox One wireless controller. This is because the game sound is now coming from your Xbox One to the controller and then to your headset via the tethered connector, the same goes for chat audio.

    Turtle Beach Ear Force Adapter VS Microsoft Adapter

    For all my Xbox ONE Gamers, question on Legacy Headsets mainly pertaining to Turtle Beach owners. Is there an added benefit going with the Turtle beach Adapter

    When will 5.1 via Optical Audio be available for Xbox One?

    Third party headset makers have no choice but to wait until Microsoft releases the Headset Adaptor which suits the way in which this new audio technology is distributed to the mass populace. Microsoft are demanding everyone buys a new headset with audio
    adaptor bundled i.e. headphones that are tuned to provide the highest quality audio from the Xbox One™ Audio Adapter. The Titanfall Ear Force Atlas Official Gaming Headset, Ear Force XO7 and Ear Force XO4 have been pushed back to March 7, 2014 at Amazon. There
    is NO way we are getting Dolby Digital 5.1 over optical in the near future as it has and always been I suspect that Microsoft would have it any other way.

    Update: Gaming audio will come via the Headset Audio Adaptor source
    www.turtlebeach.com/.../494     making Dolby Digital optical headsets redundant. If you want game/chat audio mix for the Xbox One you have to buy a headset bundled with a audio adaptor or wait until the adaptor is released by Microsoft.

    Hi there.





    Can you be a little bit more specific on the headset itself. Is it the standard xbox 360 wired headset that plugs into the controller? Or a proper audio headset used for gaming (example: Turtle beach / Tritton / Ear force headsets)?


    Even so, all of these headsets will have a volume switch / scroller attached to them somewhere, if so be sure it's not set to zero. :)
