EA today announced Rory McIlroy as star of PGA Tour

EA today announced Rory McIlroy as the cover athlete and namesake of its golf franchise, officially making him the face of EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR, releasing in June 2015.

“I’m very proud and humbled to see my face and name on EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR,” said McIlroy. “This is a great honor, and something I couldn’t even dream of growing up playing the sport. I really hope people enjoy the game and I’m very glad I can be
a part of it.”

EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR is the first EA Sports title to be built using the Frostbite engine. This new toolset allows the development team to create new environments, featuring the most detailed courses in franchise history. Frostbite also renders the
entire course at once, eliminating load times between holes and allowing users to play their shot from almost any location. It’s truly Golf Without Limits.

“Frostbite has allowed us to take this franchise to a whole new level,” stated Brent Nielsen, Executive Producer of EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR. “The new engine drastically improves all facets of the game, from core gameplay to opportunities for brand-new

EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR is developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon and will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in June 2015.

Heck yea now this is what i been waiting for as i been needing to get my One golf on. I have been eyeing the available golf games but can't seem to catch my interest in them. I wonder if Phil Mickelson will finally make his PGA Tour game appearance now?
I never understood why he hasn't been in the games ever.

I was going to download The Golf Club on release but heard it was having a few issues. A friend told me recently though it's working a lot better and was tempted to buy it in the near future.

Trouble is quite a few games coming over the next few months so might just wait for my Golf fix until this new PGA Tour as I always enjoyed previous PGA titles.

In all seriousness I've always really enjoyed the Tiger games, they've always looked good, played well and been fun. I'll also be interested to see if they try to use Kinect again - now I've finally going to have room to use it properly you can bet your
life it'll be dropped lol.

 

If done right it could work well with Kinect. Mind you I'm a little apprehensive about Kinect at the moment, I was using it the other day whilst playing Blue Estate and the wife walked by and I almost performed a most excellent close line on her :/

What I would like to see back in the new PGA title is the 3 Click System. I'm more use to playing the golf titles with the sticks but the 3 click does come in handy for putting.

Hopefully there will be a few of us picking this up, could get some friendly games going online

HB Studios Announces The Golf Club Collector's Edition

Complete with new features

Fans of HB Studios' The Golf Club are in for a bit of a treat, depending on how you look at things.

The downloadable title, which did quite well under review and which was released at a pretty premium price, will be getting a physical release in April, in the form of The Golf Club: Collector's Edition.

All of the features of the existing release will be part of the pack, including the Greg Norman Course Designer, and all of the free updates that have been released so far. However, a new "Season Mode" feature - something the game was always desperately
crying out for - will be included too, allowing players to move up through the ranks across five different tours, playing against 48 AI opponents who can and will progress to challenge them over and over again as they improve.

A collectible e-book will be included, too.

But what if you've already paid good money for The Golf Club and don't want to buy the Collector's Edition, which is the same game but with a season mode attached?

Well, HB Studios are making the season mode exclusive to the retail release for a few weeks and after that, you can download it for the digital version that you shelled out for last year, for what is expected to be around the $10 mark (according to one of
the game's producers.)

It sure is fun being an early adopter, is it not? Hopefully, fans of the game won't be too teed off.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've nearly buckled and purchased The Golf Club, but it there is just something that stops me, I think from what I've seen it just looks a bit soulless and that's the best way I can describe it.
