EA Sports UFC demo confirmed

Come on Carano.

The UFC offerings from THQ were quality games that for the most part did the sport justice.

There's got to be lots of room for polish and let's hope it's there but the stuff that's on the One Marketplace now is outclassed by the previous offerings on the 360.

Don't tell me the "Rainbow Warrior" is colourblind?

@Az, I didn't say THQ's games were bad, I was comparing their models and animations to EA's... As you previously stated these models look 'awful' - THQ's animations were 'stiff' and their control system for the ground game, in particular submissions, was
fairly poor... Ideally, I'd prefer 2K had the UFC license...

I don't know what is on the One Marketplace because I rarely check it - But try looking online.

Wish we had more choice of fighters though. Not a fan of Jon Jones. I know they're just promoting the upcoming rematch... But would've been nice to have some Clay Guida v Diego Sanchez bloodbaths.

Also would have been nice to test the women out.

Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson are on the cover. Bruce Buffer, Yves Lavinge, Joe Rogan and Arianny Celeste are all included in their respective announcer, referee, commentator and 'octagon girl' roles. Even Cain Valesquez's pectorals bounce up and down
realistically.

If you're not a UFC fan to begin with then none of this is going to be of interest to you, you'll likely have not even understood any of the proper nouns in that first paragraph. If you are a UFC fan, however, you're going to feel spoilt at the attention
to detail on offer in EA Sports' take on UFC.

Such dedication to the source material should come as little surprise given the fact that EA Canada is heading up development duties, the same studio responsible for the never-less-than-superlative FIFA and NHL offerings. Seemingly no stone has been left
unturned, no punch unthrown, in the pursuit of a UFC game that will put an end to any and all discussion relating to whether or not EA can do a better job with this license than THQ did with their UFC Undisputed series.

 

The demo for UFC is out as of 2 am this morning i just searched ufc on the store

 

Just had a few goes. Really enjoy it but find myself button mashing when I'm about to get taken down. Despite the tutorial at the beginning - It's still going to take a while to remember all the buttons.

lets hope there isnt OP moves like in the ones where they could hold you against the fence and just spam, or spam the reversal buttons. THQ did f all to fix it!

THQ didn't tend to fix anything - Their WWE games for example. Good riddance to them, hope 2K ditch that 15 year old engine!

Am I the only person who actually downloaded this? - Where is Az's thoughts? He knows best - Forum Rule.

It's a bit stale using the same guys over and over but I believe the full game will be really good. I was getting destroyed off Jones, blood all running down my chest, looked great!

 

I downloaded it and from the limited go I've had so far I'm not that impressed with it.

The hits just don't seem to connect with any sense of real force and some of the faces look alarmingly last gen.

I won't write it off immediately as I've only had a couple of goes after the tutorial and so this is really nothing more than a "first impression".

 

The tutorial tells you - Using RB, LT, LB, RB + LB followed by a button changes the power of the strikes, as well as holding the direction either towards or away from your opponent varies the type of strike. Holding RT and X or Y does a high block, RT and
B or A does a low block.

Once you get accustomed to the controls it's a real fun game. The difficulty of the demo is stuck to 'easy' and I still get beat in most matches, but I like the challenge.

Of course, the ground game/clinch controls are quite annoying, but they can't really do anything else to make them better. Using 1 button per animation would be quite ridiculous.

 

That's part of the reason I'm not ready to write this game off.

Though many people see UFC as a mindless brawler it's arguably one of the most technical fighters on the XBox 360 and XBox One.

Some blows might look like they're glancing... because some blows don't connect full and flush and simply graze.

That being said I still didn't feel like I was throwing a full impact punch or kick when I threw a full impact punch or kick.

I'll give it more time though because if you simply try to fight like Kimbo Slice you're going to enjoy about as much real world UFC success as Kimbo Slice.
