    EA Play / EA Desktop app seemingly bugged, not allowing me to download any EA Play games...


    Let me know if anyone else has had the same problem, over the past two nights I've been attempting to download Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed: Heat through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for PC. Initially, it auto-downloaded the EA Desktop app as I didn't have it installed, which was fine. It auto-logged me into my old EA account. All good, until I tried to download the game.

    It's continually just doing a little cog loading wheel for about a second, the wheel goes away and back comes the download button.
    Over on the Xbox app the Install button changes to a "Preparing... 0%" button but shortly changes back.
    I've tried contacting both Xbox and EA support. I was told by EA Support that it was an issue on Microsoft's end not pushing out the EA Play license to my account and that they weren't able to see that I did actually have Game Pass Ultimate. And yes, I am sure that both my accounts are linked properly.

    I was also told to "clear my cache" on the Origin and EA Desktop app, which I have done.
    I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling all three apps.
    Microsoft Support told me to enter some things into Powershell, came out with an error.
    Not really sure what to do at this point. Just reaching out to try and relate to anyone else having similar issues, it's a bit frustrating.

    Anyone have any solutions please let me know, thanks for taking the time to read this.

    Hi Kim,

    No, no other EA Play games will allow me to download them. The EA Desktop app wont show that I have Game Pass.

    Thank you for taking the time to explain your case in details! Currently there is a service outage regarding Battlefield 4, it's announced in the official website Xbox Status | Xbox Support. The service outage explains the issues with Battlefield 4 but for the other game I would like you please to Start troubleshooting the issue by running the Windows Update Troubleshooter for Windows 10 (microsoft.com), then follow the steps mentioned here => How to perform a clean boot in Windows (microsoft.com).

    You will also have to go over the steps mentioned here => Troubleshoot game installations on a Windows 10 device | Xbox Support.

    EA account wont link to Xbox account

    If you had a previous account linking and it doesnt say "EA play with game pass" under settings-> my account -> my membership in EA Desktop app then I suggest

    - Clicking Manage from the settings in EA Desktop app to go to the EA customer portal website and under Connections disconnect the xbox account

    - Then log out of EA Desktop and exit both apps

    - Then install a EA game from xbox app

    It will log you into EA Desktop and link accounts giving "EA play with game pass" membership and start downloading from EA Desktop app

    Note it says you can only ever link one xbox account to your EA account

    Hey Vladimir!

    Check if you have linked the EA account to Xbox, then try to download EA desktop separately and try to install the game you want to play from the EA desktop (not the Xbox app). Hope this helps!
