    I have a Surface Pro 7+ running Windows 11. It's a basic model with 8 Gb RAM and the 4G LTE. I have GamePass Ultimate and have been trying to play EA titles. However, when I try to launch any EA games, I get an error message that reads "This game will not run in a virtual environment". But.. these are PC games that are installed to a PC. I'm not running a virtual machine.

    I've tried running the EA app in Administrator mode (didn't work). I uninstalled/reinstalled the games (didn't work). I ran the EA app in compatibility mode (didn't work). I made sure that Windows 11 was 100% updates (didn't work).

    Xbox tech support was useless. They kept on insisting that I had attempted to run an Xbox console game on my PC. But I was careful to select the game from the "All PC Games" list.

    EA tech support is also impenetrable.

    Any ideas on how to fix this error?

    No, They are not. I had GamePass PC earlier and everything used to work properly but then one day I got notification that there is an offer on GamePass Ultimate so I upgraded but since the day GamePass PC subscription ended and GamePass Ultimate subscription started, I can only launch games that are on EA Play and that too from EA Desktop App only.

    Now, because the GamePass Ultimate was a 3 month subscription, so I can't even go back to GamePass PC until it's over.

    Any game that launches from Xbox app for Windows fails to launch and tried repairing and resetting the Xbox and Microsoft Apps, sign-out and then again sign-in on both the apps but still same thing.

    For Example, Forza Horizon 4 used to work earlier but now it does not.

    it is part of gamepass ultimate for console, it is getting launched to the gamepass pc side of things later this year as it was delayed.

    gamepass ultimate consists of

    Gamepass for console

    Gamepass for PC

    Gold for console

    Xcloud

    EA Play on console

    EA Play on PC later this year.

    The regulat Xbox titles work just fine. This error only occurs with EA games.

    I'm running the "pro" version of Windows since I bought the "business" variant of this maching.

    You should be able to run x86-64 games with an i5…

    Just to confirm, did you already tried the previous troubleshooting steps?
    That helps to isolate the problem a bit more
