    I was very disappointed to learn today that EA doesn't see fit to allow parents to control their kids access to online content. I bought an XBox and an XBox Live Gold membership because I can pretty well control my kids online experience. Good job Microsoft.
    But now I've bought a few EA games for my kids who want to play online with friends from school, but my kids will have to have an EA account to do that.

    And here's the kicker - According to EA support, I have to lie about their age. I have to say they're adults and give them unrestricted access to the EA gaming ecosystem. That's not why they're playing on an XBox.

    I can't be the only parent who isn't OK with this. Is anyone else not buying EA games because of this? I'm returning the ones that aren't opened and will certainly not buy any more.

    Is Microsoft OK with this? I don't know what they can do, but it certainly reflects poorly on the XBox platform.

    Microsoft has no control over what other manufacturers and developers do with their own websites, accounts, etc.

    Exactly the same applies to EA games on Sony or Nintendo consoles.

    Thanks for the reply! If you're having difficulty in linking your son's Microsoft/Xbox account to his EA Account, then you may wish to reach out to EA Support directly as they'd have more information about how to do so correctly.

    Contact EA Support

    In regard to changing the Microsoft account birthdate, please note that if your son's account is a child account, then it will only recognize the initially indicated birth date even if you change it afterwards. You can however change the privacy/security
    settings to allow the child account to access more areas: Change your child’s Xbox privacy and online
    safety settings    .

    Hi, that may be a restriction on your account preventing online play, if your account is a child account then the parental account will need to sign in and change the settings on your account.

    If your account is not under parental controls then check the privacy & online safety settings on the Xbox aren't set to block multiplayer gaming.

    I also believe that EA do not allow anyone who's account is set to a birthdate that makes the account holder under 13 years of age to play EA games online.
