EA Access mark 2......

There are two issues IMO with the EA Access vault, 1 is they are multiplayer which by itself isn't an issue the othe issuer is they mainly have a 1 year life cycle, so BF4 and FIFA 14 might be OK for the next few months but as soon as the new ones come out
the appeal and player numbers will drop, and while they are still good to play, certainly a good way to test a seriers the real appeal comes from the new titles.

So would you stop buying a publishers games and instead settle for a more subscription service of all their released games as soon as launched and if so how much would you be happy to pay and what do you think they will charge if it did happen?.

You have a point with the sports titles but just barely. Each year when released they are nothing more than a roster upgrade. As far as BF goes, not everyone is in love with Hardline's concept and many will stick with BF4. And lastly you act as if these
are the only games that will be in the Vault.

And as far as MP being an issue, its not. The games have online features and content but each of the games available can be played without using those features.

 

My OP was a very simplistic way of saying people want the new games much more than the old ones. (no matter how many people stick with BF4 the player numbers will take a massive drop when hardline is released, if that wasn't the case they won't release hardline).

Either way that doesn't change the original question.

 

I saw this but have no idea how it works, the games you get unrestricted access to are the older titles, with early access to new ones that you must then buy? I dont get it, access to all games then yeh bargin, otherwise if you have to buy the new stuff,
not so much a bargin, i dunno its not explained very clearly.

 

EA has a vault, in which is has games which are "old", at present they are about 10 months old, and you have unlimited access to those games, for as long as your a subscriber.

New games that come out you can buy and will have a 10% discount, it doesn't matter if they get added to the vault because you already own them.

And to the new games you get a limited time to play them to establish if you like them before you buy the, call it a demo.

 

So why buy the new games ever if you are paying the $30 a year? Why not just wait for the brand new games to go into the vault?

 

Well why buy a new game when you can wait a year and buy it at a reduced price in retail outlet?

(buyers don't work like this, certainly not most of them)

 

But you would have to pay extra for the used game in a retail outlet. You aren't paying extra since you are subbed for $30 a year.

 

My point was the majority of people buy games at or near launch they don't wait for a reduction, so your argument about people waiting for the vault falls down.

My OP was about a subscription service which had all the games in from as soon as they launched but you paid more, how much would you pay?

 

It's hard to say how much I'd pay, but I'd be willing to pay quite a lot given how much I spend on games per year.

I think it would be virtually impossible to price and manage an "all in" service like that though. If they took the average gamer annual spend and made that the fee, it wouldn't be attractive to all of the people who spend below the average. If they charged
less than that, they'd be better off not doing it at all as they would lose money. Also, splitting the money between the companies would be difficult to manage.

From a companies point of view subscriptions are a great way to evaluate income, since its a regular pay stream, it also almost eliminates the resale value of games.

Based on my opinion, I don't think I wouldn't pay over £20 per month, but I think the publishers would push more like £25.

However I have Fifa becuase it was free with my XO, and I have TF which isn't included, so I guess the value to me would be 0, however if its works with the shared content system I would be even more included to pay the money.

If I was in the program I would play more games regardless, becuase I would have the option to try games I wouldn't normally buy.

Its a lot more complicated to price than you think.

 

I would rather be able to buy digital and sell digital. Although I am intrigued to see what this ea access evolves into.

 

this is for people who don't buy games the day they come out. It is more for us who only buy certain ones and rent the others. Yes multi-player is included
