Thank you for reaching out. If you haven't already done so, I'd like for you to try accessing the troubleshooting menu and performing a factory reset on the Xbox.

1. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
   
2. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
3. Press and hold the BIND button and the EJECT button, and then press the
   Xbox button on the console.
4. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
   
5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
   BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.
6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

Once the menu is on your screen, select "Reset this Xbox" and choose the reset which keeps your games and apps Let us know how it goes!

My external hardrive and my flashdrive are the same shape and size so my current problem is why can't my xbox recognize that? I have the OSU1 for the original xbox on the flashdrive. I'm not sure if the full System Error code is needed but i'll put it here
just in case it means something.

So getting an xbox one s or xbox one x would be the valued solution?

If the original xbox one is discontinued does that mean sending it to Microsoft to repair it is not an option?

You could try, as the out of warranty price for repair is around $135 USD I believe, so you can see if that's still available here:

Register your console via serial number and see if you can order a repair out of warranty.
