E.B. Games?????

OK, I'm not prone to giving bad reviews, but in this case it's two strikes and your out! This is not the first time I came across bad business practices at our local EB Games and I wanted to share this last experience with them.

In spite of having been a bit p'd off with them in the past for not honoring the price they had for things on the shelf I went in to pick up a couple of the Skylanders Multi Character Portal Accessory by Biogenik that I heard they had on the shelf there.

Sure enough I went in and they were there so I grabbed two of them as well as the trap team starter kit since the portal accessories were a good price.

So the guy at the cash starts to scan them in and then tells me he can't sell them because the head office recalled them. When I asked him why they were recalled, he couldn't give me a reason and after a quick search after getting home there was nothing about
a recall either.

Needless to say they lost three sales today because I wasn't about to pay their high price for the trap team if they were deciding to back out of the good price on the accessory for absolutely no reason given.

Lesson learned, I will never bother shopping for anything there again!

Would I like it?

Actually about to get back into this, then start XIII-2. THEN i WILL pre-order Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII. Unfortunantly where i am they haven't started pre-orders yet for gamestop/E.B./GAME yet

 

Online Gaming prices in Australia

My local E.B has been empty for a while, with *** Smith and Target in the same mall selling games $40 cheaper it's no surprise. You only see parents with kids who probably aren't aware of the price difference. We can always buy import anyway, I think the
360 was the 1st Pal Console i'd owned in a while and that was due to the 1080p upscaling.

 

Is it possible the store found the problem themselves and were deciding to recall the item themselves, as in take it off store shelves just in case?

It's possible the recall hasn't been initiated all over and that the items were just found out to have a problem, idk.

Either way, I've never been to an EB Games nor is there one nearby, but aren't they owned by Gamestop?

 

Not sure if they are owned by Gamestop or not. I gave them the benefit of the doubt on an earlier purchase that was marked one price but was a higher price once I got to the cash. They said that time that the sale was just over that day and they hadn't had
a chance to change it. I'd be inclined to agree with you, but as I said in my post the only thing he did say as a reason was that head office did the recall. no other reason of why, just recalling them though they were on the shelf for sale. Two times looking
shady is enough for me to quit going there.

They are owned by Gamestop, and they adopt the same repugnant business practices as Gamestop.

 

Never heard of em but if the price was on the item, then they would have to honor that price. without exception.

As for the other insident. I would be inclined to give em the benifit of the doubt. Unless later that day said item was still on the shelfs.

 

I never went back to check, but I doubt if it's back on the shelf there. I would gladly give them the benefit of the doubt, but once I see a trend to doing things a bit shady, I tend to look elsewhere for what I want. Once can be an accident, even twice
can be, though that's a red flag. I've heard from others though now that stuff like this has happened to them there, so I have to think it's more of a trend.

 

Just an update on this. E.B. Games has been in contact with me on the issue and had said that their District manager would contact me to resolve the issue within 24 to 48 hours. So far it's been 4 days since that statement was made by them and still no contact.
That pretty much says it all I think.

 

EB games generally is my last choice, sometimes I pre-order from there because they have better exclusives then another store for the same cost, though I never just walk in and buy a game because they're so expensive.

 

The target 4 doors down from my EB generally has new games 20, 30 or $40 cheaper. The Amibos are $5 cheaper, basically everything is cheaper. EB however get's in a wider range of games,,

 

As it turns out in this case it was an internal recall. I guess the accessory was not selling as well as they wanted so they were recalling it. I ended up getting two of them and it is kind of too bad that they are being pulled off the shelves. They not
only work with the 360 but with the one too. So this one is resolved. A moderator can close this thread now.
