I have a 486 I am gutted it won't work on my PC. If fact it won't even work on my pentium 1 or 2, or 3 or 4, infact I am not sure it will work on an I3 either. Maybe a good spec I5 and I7.

It has nothing to do with PC vs console. You appear to want games developed for the best platform and my point is.....you're not on it.

Caught the sarcasm but with budget gaming PC's under 500 bucks in some cases but easily found in the 500 to 600 dollar range it doesn't hold much water.

 

@ Randver, that's subjective. Maybe he thinks the X1 is the best platform. I consider consoles a different platform than a PC anyway. Just because they both play games doesn't mean they are the same.

I usually agree with you Randver, but I think you are reading way too much into his statement. He most likely meant the best in regards to last gen and current gen systems in which case his point is especially valid.

This really has nothing to do with a PC of any kind.

 

Click the link, read the article, if you don't agree with what they are doing then that's fine. You keep throwing this PC stuff in the thread that no one cares about. Also, your Imagination is very active because I dont "appear" as anything nor did I speak
as if the XO and PS4 were at the top.

One last time, if the devs feel they can't deliver the core experience they are going for on the old systems then that's "good news" they are not forcing it. That's all this thread was about ;-)

 

My point was developers limit PC usage as well, at the end of the day developers have to work around a lot of conditions, and if dropping an older console means the PC version and the consoles versions that are release are the best they can be, I would think
thats a compromise I would be happy with that.

I guess I'm not seeing the difference between someone not wanting games developed for a last gen console and PC gamers not wanting them developed for the consoles at all.

The Evil Within is a perfect example. The PC release is getting torn apart for bad frame rates, lack of FoV slider, etc. It's obvious it was designed for the console and wasn't optimized for the PC. This isn't uncommon.

In 2014 the line between a console and a PC is virtually nil other than hardware specs. I game all the time from my recliner, with a wireless controller and a controller enabled UI but my "console" is a MSI laptop.

 

I saw this and it really is about time. I love the 360. Great console no doubt. But we will see things that are not possible one those other consoles if they drop them. I guess they could just take the game and remove what does not fit or work. That
takes time and money. Or have another dev. team port what they can. That would take money as well.

I could see issues with removing features that just would not work due to CPU/GPU constraints as well. That could cause issues with the core of the game. They many not be able to put out the game they want. Could hurt the experience a lot for 360 owners
and this in turn could hurt their image/brand. So I could see why they may not.

I also can see issues if they keep the game the same on last and current gen. That may mean that they have to work the game to fit last gen. and then the only real difference would be graphical. Hard to entice people to move to new consoles if the only
real draw is graphical. I admit, I do like graphics. But I have plenty of older, graphically "bad" games that are still awesome.

This is something that is currently hurting One/PS4. They are much more capable then 360/PS3. The experiences possible could noticeably beyond last gen. and not just in terms of graphics. I could see much better AI (and AI for MP like the drivatar system
in a way for shooters). I could see them getting much, much better physics. And all this will come with time. That was an advantage 360 has over the One. The games were 360 games. Not really Original/360 cross gen. games.

Really, that is why I see this as a good thing. Nothing against my 360's (which I will keep until they die) I have. And nothing against the last gen. I really like the Assassin's Creed deal. A game for both gen. consoles respectively. No one game across
both.

 

Release it only on current gen consoles (+PC),it's still just a cross over between Far Cry and Dead Island...

And some cross gen games are very good....Mordor,Titanfall,Foza Horizon 2,....At least on Xbox one.

 

New odopters consider it good news, I wonder if they still think it's good news when it doesn't hit 1080P and is over priced like the majority of games for consoles at the moment.

 

Good....... focus on the future not the past! Good news..... weed out the stragglers!

 

Good news for early adopters, bad news for those who don't have an X1, PS4, or capable PC.

Personally, I'm glad they did this. Does this new gen seem underwhelming so far? It's because of resources taken away to make 360 and PS3 ports. I'm not sure about server issues, but think about how much better games like BF4 would be if it was only for
PS4, X1, and PC. Graphics would be better and framerates would be more stable.

 

Now you guys know what PC gamers feel like.

You put yourselves in the same category ( only make games for One, PS4 and PC ) yet PC gamers see next gen consoles the same way you see last gen consoles.
