DVR Auto-delete on external hard drive

I've got an external hard drive and the stupid console is auto-deleting clips on it? What the hell do i do? It shouldn't delete anything on an external hard drive!

You need a dedicated external hard drive for it to work and it only works with OTA TV as long as you have the $60 component from Microsoft. If you already have an external hard drive you will have to but another one strictly for DVR...

 

Does my games have to install even though it's a disc?

So we will only have to buy an external Hard Drive if we want to save the older games. Otherwise just delete them to make room for newer games?

That does not help but thanks, I'm asking as to how to turn off auto-delete? Why is it deleting clips from my EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE? It shouldn't have the right to do so... I'm just frustrated by this; £60 hard drive and it's not being treated as a seperate

There's no way to disable the auto-delete system.

 

Did you even read the link you gave me? You can't upload clips to Xbox live from your EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE, I got one so I don't have to worry about auto-delete bs; there's no excuse for Microsoft here

 

But you can upload videos from your PC. I'm just trying to find the origin of your problem.

I don't have access to a pc, shouldn't be dependant on one to overcome this issue. I came across this yesterday. Why is it auto-deleting my external hard drive aswell?

 

Auto-delete should be optional, they've alternated between having it on then off, why not make it optional?; seems stupid

 

The auto-del system is only for videos uploaded to Xbox Live from your console and that have not been seen. Could be a hard drive problem.

 

Providing that it is my hard drive; what would I have to do to stop this problem?

 

Also it does delete clips from both your internal and external hard drive (But for the External, only screenshots remain)

 

If you had a PC, you could check if the videos still exist or have been erased.

At the moment you can try to record a video on your hard drive and see if after 30 days is deleted.

If the problem persists, contact support again.
