    Dvds will not play on xbox 360


    A. Attempt to play dvd No picture and no sound issue
    1. Xbox 360 turns on (green light)
    2. Goes through xbox 360 intro then to xbox dashboard
    3. Read dvd
    4. Identifies dvd in drive
    5. Select dvd from xbox dashboard
    6. xbox 360 makes sound and again reads disc
    7. Goes to (white background) xbox banner screen
    8. But No dvd picture or sound
    9. Dvd play can be verified below in items (8-13)
    10. Select b button for screen menu on bottom of the screen
    11. select basic
    12. Select info page
    13. Dvd info data functions and is being calculated as dvd plays
    - Dvd minutes and seconds played
    - Title
    - Chapter
    - Dvd minutes and seconds left to play
    13. But no picture or sound
    14. I tried multiple dvd discs with no success
    15. Note: xbox 360 does play mixed media cd discs without issue

    B. Display settings issue
    1. Xbox 360 dashboard
    2. Select system settings
    3. Select console settings
    4. Select display settings
    5. Page Shows only screen resolution, screen format, reference level
    6. Display settings used to provide a fourth ption for optimal connection via a/v, rgb, hdmi connections this selection does not exist.

    I regret to inform you that Xbox 360 S console cannot play HD DVDs. You still need to have an HD DVD player for you to be able to play HD DVDs. However, Microsoft Xbox does not sell Xbox 360 HD DVD player anymore.

    Either xbox 360 cannot support the dvdXbox 360 cannot play blueray dvd's or their is something wrong in the dvd reader in the xbox.

    You don't need any special software or hardware to play DVDs on your Xbox 360 console. Simply insert a DVD into the disc drive and turn on the console. The DVD automatically starts to play.

    Xbox One DVD flicker and aspect ratio!!!!!

    I have the same problem with DVD playback, however, it's only on DVDs recorded on a toshiba DVD recorder. Bought DVDs play in the correct aspect ratio on Xbox one, but recorded DVDs play in 4:3. However, on every other DVD player, they play in widescreen.
    On Xbox 360 I can adjust the aspect ratio in settings. I cannot find how to do this on the Xbox one.
