dvd

Hi, i have the same problem but for only few dvds. I have the lord of the rings extended edition box in dvd and all the dvds (the movie itself is 2 dvds and all specials stuff are on 2 other dvds) of the first movie doesnt work and xbox says that error message.
Strangely all the other dvds of other movies are ok, they work fine­. It's all working fine in a regular dvd player. I tried to cold reboot xbox and eject many many times, dvd are perfect clean, still doing it. Had to reinstall "old" dvd player to read it.

You have to use ORIGINAL DVD (movies concert dvd series etc) It doesn't read amatorial dvd

It is at the Publishers discretion to include information while a DVD is being played. I know Blu Ray has this kind of technology on their discs. But DVDs are a different story. DVDs have never shown information regardless of being Smartglass or not.
If the publisher of the DVD wishes to share information with you, it will be in the DVD menus.

I have the same problem with DVD playback, however, it's only on DVDs recorded on a toshiba DVD recorder. Bought DVDs play in the correct aspect ratio on Xbox one, but recorded DVDs play in 4:3. However, on every other DVD player, they play in widescreen.
On Xbox 360 I can adjust the aspect ratio in settings. I cannot find how to do this on the Xbox one.

Can you even get HD-DVDs? Yes. Amazon and eBay, for example.

Run Xbox 360 games? No.

Use HD-DVD Player on the PC? Yes, but only for CD/DVD/HD-DVD.
