DVD upscaling

    Hi there,

    I am looking for some info about the Xbox One's capabilities and upscaling DVD movies.

    Since i can't find any info or any forum about this matter, I placed it here...

    I want to know if the Blue-Ray App is capable of upscaling low quality movies (DVD) to HD or UHD quality.

    Since this is possible for Games I would assume it can be done for Movies too?

    DVD playback

    DVDs look aweful on the x1 I'm dusting off an old ps 3 to watch DVDs, what gives they play in 480i? No upscaling to 1080?

    What do you use your Xbox 360 nowadays for?

    For a couple of months I've been using it as a DVD Player to watch all my anime series and the upscaling is pretty damn good.

    -

    If I weren't using my HD-DVD Player on a notebook I could have two DVDs playable on Xbox 360 which is ideal, but swapping discs isn't that big of a deal anyway.

    DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

    Boas most standalone DVD players upscale.

    dvd playback is horrible

    I'm not convinced it upscales standard DVD's. I went through a few last night and they looked awful on the One but looked great on the 360. I couldn't find any settings on the One or within the BluRay player to upscale DVD's.

    My tv has an info as to what resolution is showing. A 4k uhd shows correct as does x box 1 games.

    when playing a standard Dvd the info shown is 576p standard. Not upscaled at all. Aweful picture.

    dvd playback is horrible

    It totally upscales DVDs. I've been watching old Harry Potter movies and they look great. My television shows them at 1080p/ 60fps. The old movies look as good as blu ray in my opinion. It even upscaled my DVD of a really old television show from the 70s
    to make it actually watchable. Without upscaling it looks horrendous.

    With VGA or HDMI, yes. Component, no. (That's to 1080i by the way)
