    Hello all, I have had my Xbox one for about a week now. I downloaded the blue ray DVD app, I put in a DVD movie that someone made for me , it would not play on the Xbox.the movie did play on my daughter's blue ray player. I put a the DVD in the Xbox and
    it played. Any suggestions on what I can do? Thanks.

    DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

    No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
    Blu Ray players.

    The DVD player kit was made to enable playing of DVD movies on the original Xbox, it has nothing to do with games.

    If you're interested in watching DVD's, a standalone DVD player or a Blu-ray player would be the far better option.

    Hi Ouligars!

    Unfortunately, the Xbox will not play HD DVD's without the Xbox HD DVD player. I have one and they are certainly hard to find these days. If you have the Xbox HD DVD player, then a HD DVD app will appear in the Video tab. As far as I know, non-Xbox HD DVD
    players are unsupported on the 360.

    Of course, if you meant you found the Xbox HD DVD player, then as stated above, you will find the app for it in the My Video tab... Hope this helps!

    Sometimes the DVD hits against the laser in the DVD player. If this happens, it can scratch your disk.
