DVD Playback without internet connection

I'm hoping someone can explain a weird requirement with Xbox One DVD playback.

This morning Comcast service went out in my area. So no TV and no internet. No big deal it's going to happen from time to time. So I load a DVD movie but it won't play because there is no internet connection. Why would a company make their product completely
worthless without a internet connection?!

So since this function does not work I take it you can't play any games or play multiplayer sessions with other xbox's on a LAN?

XB1 drive does not play blue-ray

That's how I got DVD playback working. But still no blueray playback

UPDATE: Xbox One S returned. No solution for audio sync issue on DVD/Blu-ray playback.

After scouring the internet I cannot find a solution. The Xbox Support seems to be correct. There was an issue with the Xbox One S where the audio was not in sync with the video on DVD and Blu-ray playback. I returned the Xbox One S.

Hopefully few other experience the issue.

Hey, Mr MichaelR! Sorry to see you're running into this issue! Before you popped that DVD in, did you make sure you console was set to
Offline Mode? Your console should be able to use most of its features while this setting is on. Let me know if that works for you!

 

Im having the same problem too and yes i have my xbox set for offline mode and app is downloaded .. But yet it keeps telling me to go online

 

Have you made sure your console is your home console?

 

Ya im pretty sure it is . where would i find that option?
