    DVD games and movies not playing


    I bought my son an Xbox one s for Christmas 2016. Everything we've done has been through games downloaded to the console. Now he wants to buy the disc's for the console. However they won't play. I've done the hard reset and still nothing. I've tried games,
    reg DVD movies and blu-ray movies. Nothing.

    After doing some research, it sounds like Microsoft knew about this issue but I can't seem to find the source again.

    Other than paying MS 125 bucks for service, anyone have any other suggestions? Any help is appreciated.

    Cant Play DVDs smoothly

    The xbox one's dvd playing software "blu ray app" seems to have some kinda problem playing dvd smoothly. It plays blu rays just fine but when it comes to DVDs its very bad, on certain movies the movies it can even begin to have screen tear/screen lag.
    All the movies ive seen develop sync issue also. Alot of people pop a movie in and see it plays and looks aright for a few mins and may tell you theres doesnt do that, but ive found that the problem gets worse as the movie goes on. I guess the good
    news is that its not a faulty console. Sadly it looks like its the app/software, hopefully it will be updated. But right now you are not alone with the dvd playback issues.

    I cannot get the region code to change on my Xbox 360

    region coding for playing dvd's is different to games, and dvd drives for playing dvd movies is hard coded, so i dont think there is a way for it to be changed.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately it sounds to me like your Optical drive has developed a fault. There are two lasers in the drive assembly, one for reading Xbox 360 games and movie DVD discs and one for reading Xbox One and Blu-ray discs.

    To see if your drive is failing, try playing regular DVD movie discs (not an HD movie discs as these are on Blu-ray format). If the DVD films fail to play then your drive is faulty and you'll need to send the machine to have this repaired.

    Xbox 360 games are on DVD discs.

    This only happens when i play dvd with this particular cable. thats the strange part of it. when i play dvd = scrape, games = perfect, movies from usb flash = perfect. only from dvd. is it the xbox's codecs or something that stopping it from play sound from

    Where can I find the dvd player kit for the original Xbox (2001)?

    The DVD player kit was made to enable playing of DVD movies on the original Xbox, it has nothing to do with games.

    If you're interested in watching DVD's, a standalone DVD player or a Blu-ray player would be the far better option.
