    DVD Drive


    My XBox 360 has put rings around the outer edges of several discs. I have the console laying horizontal, do not move or touch it while a disc is in the drive, but it has done this to several discs. My question is this, can I connect an external DVD player
    to the USB port and use that instead of the built in DVD player?

    XBOX 360 Slim DVD Drive Replacement

    I have a question to ask about a Xbox 360 slim dvd drive. The slim plays movies ok but not game disks.Insert a game disk and it says unrecognised disk,and after pressing A on the controller it ejects the disk.If the dvd drive needs replacing, is it easy to do. I have replaced many dvd drives in home computers and have opened up the 360 slim a year ago to clean the inside of dust and stuff. Also I have a old green halo edition Xbox in the closet that had the 3 red lights flashing on the front. The dvd drive is ok I think.Can the dvd drive from the halo edition Xbox fit in the slim. If not I will just order one. Any info on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

    Error Code after update today

    C000-000E indicates the DVD drive is not responding. Have you modified or removed the DVD drive, or have you paid an unauthorized repair center to replace your DVD drive?

    No. You would either need to see about sending your console in for repair or get a new console.

    I'd try having the console vertically, it could make the disc sit differently so the drive doesn't damage the disc. I'm honestly surprised Microsoft never asked the drive manufacturers to put in a disc buffer to prevent this from happening.

    System Error : E 65

    E65: DVD Drive Error - Dvd drive is not DMA configured :Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. This can also be caused by the tray not being fully closed on boot.

    Did you perhaps replace the dvd drive yourself? If it is not a MS dvd drive this error can happen. Not accusing you of anything, just letting you know what is up.

    When a game installs, does it install of its memory or just partial?

    Blu ray drives are much slower than DVD drives. I think they're only around 4x, whereas a typical DVD drive is 24x

    Can microsoft give refunds?

    Well the console was originally designed to only read Xbox 360 games off the dvd drive with disk games. Maybe when they update it they did so with a use of a virtual dvd drive in which the console gets tricked into believing the hard drive installed games
    are retail disk games. Maybe when you launch a game from the hard drive it automatically checks the dvd drive for a game. If the dvd drive is faulty it brings up the cant play game error.
