Dvd drive help

Sorry you're having problems playing DVDs. What error do you get exactly? If you can provide that it will definitely help us out! Can you play blurays at all? Also does it play disc games okay? A couple things to try would be first uninstalling the app.
Find the app in your apps, press your menu button, and select manage game. After you do that follow the steps to uninstall. I've posted a link below to show you how to do this. If you are still having problems, trying holding the power button down on the Xbox
for about 10 seconds or until it powers off (it will shut down very quickly). After that turn the Xbox back and and see if you have any luck playing your DVD movies.

There's nothing "normal" about running
games from the 360's DVD drive. There is no other consumer electronics device that runs a DVD drive at 12x for sustained periods of time.



The only way to extend the life of a 360 DVD drive is to install all games to HDD or USB MU prior to playing.

Hey Johnny! It's likely not going to show up under apps. What you need to do is enable auto-play for the device under system settings, then when you put in a HD-DVD it'll start up on its own!

Any ideas what to do if it's just not showing up?

My console is recognizing my HD-DVD drive, as I can see by the fact that it appears under Storage, but that tile that's supposed to be under My Video Apps just doesn't appear.

I spoke to support and the guy was mystified as to why mine wasn't displaying.

The driver disc isn't required as the driver and software are included with System updates.



Go to tv & movies, then My Video Apps. There should be a green tile with only the words HD DVD written on it in white.



If that's not there, make sure the drive has the power brick plugged in and the USB cable is properly seated on both the console and the drive. You may want to try another USB cable if the one included doesn't work.
