DVD Drive doesn't read discs

hi

I have an xbox 360 for a few years but I've used it only on special occasions and well kept it so all parts are supposed to work properly even though the DVD Drive stopped reading properly the discs ,original discs of course I have talked to the Sepport
Center and it seems that it needed to be replaced ,it will cost money and will be complicated so all I asked for was to be able to download for free the games which I bought and paid quite a lot of money for and now they have no use because the DVD Drive is
not working

I've tried to find an email address to ask to download the games but couldnt find one, it's suppose to be simple since there is probably a special code number to every disc and so I can give it to them and proof that I did bought an original disc but I couldn't
find such an email so I decided to write it here if there is someone here which can help me with this I will be very grateful.

I think that it's only fair to give me the option to download for free the games that i have paid a lot of money and used barely a few times

Xbox 360 (original version) DVD disc reading sound

If your discs don't get damaged it may be an issue with your consoles DVD drive motor bearings. The reason why it doesn't make the same sound when you play games is because game discs read much faster than DVD movie discs, which causes the discs to spin
more.

Xbox one DVD drive not reading

DVD drive doesn't read some discs, have to hold disk for a second then let it go, even then doesn't always work. Videos online shows disc not seating in drive, support says no record of this problem.

I know you've spoken to support already, but it is worth double checking all of the following steps from the Disc Drive Solution support page before.

If you're sure it's broken then you're going to need to request a repair or get a replacement console. Unfortunately you're going to need the discs to play the games and I don't think there is a way to do this, but any digital downloads will indeed work
and you can download them again on any console.

You can probably pick a new Xbox 360 fairly cheap these days, might be worth trying to look for one cheap in Black Friday sales?

I just wanted to add that if you would like digital downloads of the games that you have on disc you'll need to purchase them as Xbox does not do disc to digital exchanges, or vice versa.

It could be that your Xbox One Blu-ray drive has a hardware fault, specifically with the diode it uses to read DVD discs. To test this, try playing a DVD movie in your console. The disc you test must be a DVD movie disc, not a Blu-ray movie disc.

If the DVD doesn't read, but Xbox One and Blu-ray discs read fine then your console has a hardware fault and can no longer read Xbox 360 and DVD discs. There isn't a user fix for this, they only option is get your console repaired. Sorry.

Sorry about your problem there.

If the power cycle doesn't work, then I'm sorry but your console will require a repair.

The drive that reads discs in your Xbox One is a Blu-ray optical drive. It uses a blue type laser to read the data etched into the Blu-ray discs that Xbox One game discs use. Xbox 360 discs on the other hand are DVD discs. DVD discs are read by a red laser.
Both the red and the blue lasers are built into the consoles optical drive as a complete package.

Sometimes one of the laser mechanisms will fail. So you'll either have Xbox One discs (and Blu-ray films) read fine, but DVD discs - both Xbox games, and DVD movie discs - not be read. It can also happen the other way around.

There is no way to fix this yourself. You would have to send the whole unit off to Microsoft for a repair.

Sounds like the laser in your console's Blu-ray drive has a hardware issue.

To test if your Xbox One X has issues reading discs, try playing a DVD movie disc. If can't read DVD movie discs either then your console has a hardware fault.

Note: It must be a DVD movie disc, not a Blu-ray movie disc.

There are two lasers in the Blu-ray drive, one for reading Blu-ray discs and one for DVD discs. Xbox One games use Blu-ray and the 360 console used a DVD drive.

It's not your console or you for that matter. A lot of these installs are 3-5x larger than the ones from Xbox 360. Also the Blu-Ray drive doesn't read the disc as fast as a DVD drive.
