Dungeon Crawling FPS Ziggurat Launches on Xbox One Next Week

My first observations were incorrect. Dead is dead. If you die you start back at level 1 with nothing.

Still trying to figure out how the carrying over of spells, perks, etc works on the next playthroughs. They are unlocked so I'm guessing they'll be available from the start making your character more powerful sooner than in previous runs.

Is the game tough? I'm hearing from some on Twitter that they are getting frustrated with it?

Now I don't want a game to hold my hand and walk me through but if a game gets hard to the point of getting frustrated then I can be easily put off lol

I have it set on "easy" and it's easy. My deaths have come from not paying attention to my health, traps and a ill timed jump over lava. I made it to the third floor on my first attempt just "running and gunning" with little difficulty. Perks, abilities
unlock each time you level and you have a choice between two that are random so there is some luck involved getting the better perks.

There is no tutorial with the exception of some tooltips from time to time so you learn as you play.

I could see the people who normally start games on the harder difficulties getting frustrated but starting on easy will provide a smooth learning curve.

I hear that "normal" is a bit unfair and it's best to play through and "beat" it on easy first so you can unlock better characters. Is this true?

 

Each time you attempt the "dungeon" you unlock better perks, abilities and weapons along the way that are randomly given to you each level on your next runs. The characters you unlock also start with better stats at the beginning.

I don't think they intended for anyone to beat the game even on normal with the starting character and perks, weapons, abilities.

The randomness makes or breaks your run (even the floor bosses are random). I've made the final floor (5th) twice now on easy and this morning I was normally dead shortly into the fourth floor.

The second character unlocks quickly but the others will take some grinding.

Overall I'm enjoying it, it has that addictive "I'll try just one more time" feel to it. There are some frame rate issues at times but not game breaking and no other bugs or glitches that I've experienced.

 

Does this game have any kind of multiplayer / co-op?

 

Nope,solo.....against evil carrots.

No co-op or multi. It really wouldn't work in this genre with the perma-death element.

Those *** carrots have killed me twice now. They get summoned by shamans and you end up with about 30 of them chasing you.

 

This game is gonna turn me into an alcoholic. lol Carrots turn me into
SHE-HULK. I hate carrots.
