    Dumb Security Protocols

    Dear Xbox,

I have been a member of xbox live and its services for the past 6 years. I have also gamed on your console exclusively during that time and my experience has been good overall, yet due to your unrealistic security protocols whenever I change or update my
security or account information I get magically locked out of certain services that are supposed to be standard with xbox gold. I really think it is OVERKILL, not to mention ASININE, AND MOST OF ALL DISRESPECTFUL to lock your customers out services, that
we have paid to use, for 30 days. It has perturbed me quite a bit over the past 22 days. That slight feeling of animosity has blossomed however into a full blown meltdown because it seems as though your security protocols are also stringent enough that they
will not even allow me stream my x-1 console to my own personal computer over my own personal network. One last comment, why even have an option to verify who I am through my personal e-mail account that I use in conjunction with my xbox live account, if
using that method still subjects me to a unreasonable extended forced "time out". The next time I have to wait 30 days to access services I have paid for, I will use that time wisely by returning to PC gaming and mail you your console, never to return.

    :)

The router configuration and how to manage it are usually based on the model your using, so I would suggest to look for more specific info online searching for your model.

And maybe provide also more info here so that, if there's someone with specific knowledge on it, he may be able to help.

    Hi there!

I am sorry you're experiencing this issue, however as stated on the
    Security info & security codes
    help article it says:

If you remove all of your security info, there’s a 30-day wait during which we help protect sensitive parts of your account so nobody can change your security settings or use your payment options. During this period you can still use your email, Skype,
OneDrive, and devices as usual. After the 30 days, you’ll be notified that the wait is over and it’s time to enter new security info.

It is for your accounts safety. Not because Microsoft "wants to do it, just to do it". They want their customers to know their account is safe.

I truly understand your "concern for your customers" statement, yet when your "policy" locks your "customer" out of services, even tough, the customer has verified who they are, PER YOUR PROTOCOLS, the grace period is extreme to say the least. I DID NOT
remove my security information, I updated my payment options and changed my password. I received a notice to verify who I was through my email as usual. Point being is if the verification process is subject to a 30 day "time out" which includes: not being
able to get games with gold, purchase and download games and add-ons, and the part of the iceberg that ripped the hull open was not being able to stream my purchased games from my purchased console, to my purchased personal PC, using my purchased internet
service...... all locally..........is a stupid "security" protocol, to say the least. I DO NOT use multiplayer and I'm NOT using your servers to game. I simply wanted to stream my console to my PC because all of the televisions in my household were in use
by my family. Having to wait 30 days, after I have verified who I am, PER YOUR PROTOCOLS, is once again, POOR FORM.....on the part of a company that claims to put gamers first.

    routers security protocol

You will have to look up your router's model number online for steps on how to access the web settings through your browser (typically). There's that, and a default username and password (if one hasn't been configured yet).

The best security protocol to use for Wifi is WPA2-PSK (AES).
