Dude, where's my stuff?

I bought a new XBox, slapped my HD on it,

and suddenly my avatars are gone, my backgrounds are gone, and 2 of my games show up as demos.

So I hook my 'Box up to the intarwebz, download a system update, and everything looks fine.

Take my 'Box back home, set it all up, turn it on...

And still my games are demos and I can't use my desktops (avatars were fixed, though).

I've been playing off-line for 2 years and everything was fine.

Does Microsoft expect me to pay for internet I can't afford to play games I already payed for?

What gives?

I think I know what the problem is.

Your new xbox console doesn't have the licenses for your purchases on it yet. Which means your account isn't able to use that content and when your account is connected to xbox live all is fine, since your account has the licenses on it.

But in order for your account to use them on the console when not connected to xbox live the console itself will need the licenses too.

This is the thing you need to do is to transfer the licenses to your new console and then redownload the games (no need to delete them first). See this link for the steps:
