Dualshock 4 controller not being detected except in settings as an audio device

when i connect the duelshock 4 controller, it doesnt show up as a device anywhere except in settings as an audio device, or in HID as a game controller in device manager, but on steam it shows no controller detected. I used an old playstation 3 controller which i had used software like scp tool kit, and tried some other software. I tried to solve it based on several different threads about the issue, but none seems to work, however even after i uninstall the scptoolkit, my ps3 controller still works, so i feel like theres a background application helping run the ps3 controller which may inhibit the ps4 controller, but looking through add or remove programs, or task manager i havent found anything that seemed like an application supporting the ps3 controller. does anyone know anyway to fix this issue, i have tried updating or installing and uninstalling the drivers of the hid game controller, restarted steam numerous times, resetting the ps4 controller with the small button below the left trigger, nothing seems to be working. thanks!

Hello Arnav, ps4 controls although they can be connected to the PC, may present instabilities and failures, some of them are known.

As you are trying to play for Steam, have tried to contact Sony and Steam support, they may have some procedure that can help you.

From the PS4 FAQ:

Will the DUALSHOCK 4 controller’s 3.5mm headset jack support other headsets or headphones?

The PS Vita system’s headset is fully supported. Some other third-party headsets may support basic audio and chat functionality on PS4, but Sony Computer Entertainment cannot guarantee it.

Is it possible to output all game audio through DUALSHOCK 4 controller’s 3.5mm headset jack?

Yes, you can select the Output to Headsets option to either ‘Chat Audio’ or “All Audio.”

Probably yes, it works, 'cause it works on Dualshock 4 for PS4, with both Chat and Audio game.

And the Dualshock 4 is CTIA standard, not OMTP.

The
manual is up for the Polk 4 Shot. It includes an adapter that fits onto the bottom of the Xbox One controller.

It appears the controller handles ALL audio - game and chat. A cable goes from the adapter to the headset. This makes it similar to the DualShock 4, though with dedicated buttons for chat/game audio control.
