  1. DTS:X compared to Dolby Atmos on Xbox Games

    Hi everyone,

Since DTS:X has finally filtered down to beta ring I have done some testing. I wasn't expecting a big difference between the two Spatial Audio systems in Games with native 3D Sound (like CoD Warzone) but there is a clearly audible difference! DTS seems to be a little less "sharp" and also seems to have a more balanced Volume. Whether this is actually better is probably a matter of personal preference. I do find DTS to be easier on the ears, but it might mean a slight disadvantage when it comes to pinpointing sounds. More testing on that is still required. So far I haven't had any major glitches with DTS Sound, which is promising. When it comes to Upmixed Sound, I am rather surprised, that the DTS Upmixer seems to be pretty mild. Neural:X tends to be quite active in Movies, so either they are using an adapted version, or my test cases just didn't contain much material for the Upmixer to latch onto. FYI, I am using both Atmos and DTS on a full 7.2.4 Speaker system in a dedicated, acoustically optimised room. My AVR is a Denon X6700H.

What are your impressions so far?

Another XSX Dolby Atmos sound delay post. . .

    I'm using XSX & Jbl Bar 9.1.

Dolby Atmos gaming have Lag definitely compare with DTS, Lpcm 5.1&7.1.

So I don't use Dolby Atmos with XSX despite of my SYSTEM.

Xbox one X compatibility with TV's

Difference you're looking at is in the peak intensity of whites compared to blacks. Hdr10 is a competing format to Dolby Vision, both supported by the x, most new tvs support one or the other. Check your receiver for pad through settings as well. Look for
one with dts-x and Dolby Atmos with 4k and hdr passthrough.

    Good luck!

Xbox One X Dolby Atmos not working

My Xbox One X is connected to my receiver. When I try to setup Atmos in the audio settings Xbox One X says that my receiver, Denon AVR-4300H, does not have Atmos capability. I am only allowed to choose DTS for the bitstream sound output. Atmos works fine
with my Samsung 4K player so I know it is an Xbox One X issue.

The Dolby App does not give any error until I try to view the demo videos where it flashes, "you are not viewing this video on Dolby Atmos." It plays the demo video on DTS instead.

    Blu Ray Bitstream Passthrough faulty

I have bitstream out turned on on my setup and I all can get is plain DTS or plain Dolby digital. No True DD or master DTS or Dolby Atmos. Is the Dolby atmos supposed to be working for everyone now?
