DTS audio doesn't work on Xbox one S

Hello! There is no sound when i watch a 4k video file with dts audio track, while the ac3 audio track in the same videofile works fine. I've tried to select both settings in xbox: Dolby Digital and DTS. No way to play DTS audio

My connection:

Xbox one S -> TV(HDMI) audio off;

Xbox one S -> Soundbar Samsung HW-K360 (optical audio cable). It supports DTS 2.1 and Dolby Digital

Any advice or help? Thanks

I did everything as you said.

1) It is a 4k (mkv, m2ts) movie (i've tried many of them) with a several audio tracks. So Dolby Digital tracks (with ac3 codec) always work great, DTS dosen't... (video is playing, but without sound). I use Movies & TV app for xbox or multimedia
player.

2) Problem does not occur in games or streaming services

3) Ok. I set my HDMI autio to stereo uncompressed, optical audio selected bitstream, bitsream format DTS or DD. And it makes no difference(((

May be i should set my soundbar to TV, not to Xbox?

If that does not help, then the last thing I would recommend is taking a look at this support article for troubleshooting the Movies & TV app in case it's the app that needs to be worked on.

I found a solution for my problem! Xbox correctly reads all audio formats. The fact is that the Cinema and TV application and the multimedia player(default) do not support some codecs. And it's sad, because i like this app so much! Well,
Microsoft themselves made me to use another app with full support all audio and video formats (+codecs). I will not tell which one because you may think it is an advertising

Thank you for the update and more detailed information. It's possible that the Xbox One cannot render everything included in MKV formats because not all MKV codecs are supported on the Xbox One. I found a support article title,

"MKV support on Xbox One" that has a table of supported codecs and how normal features of MKV container behave on the Xbox. Please take a look at that table to make sure your video files fall under those supported codecs.

If your sound bar has an input selection I would leave it on Xbox One or console, or however it is labeled, because the sound bar is directly connected to the Xbox One via optical cable and the audio is being processed by the Xbox One and the sound bar,
and not with the TV. You can try switching for troubleshooting purposes as I don't see any harm in trying.

If this issue does not occur with games or streaming services, then I think the issue lies with how the Xbox One processes those specific MKV media files.

Just for some basic troubleshooting, go ahead and do a
hard reset and power cycle. Hold down the power button on the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then remove the power cable from the Xbox and the power outlet for about 2-3 minutes. Then re-connect and
turn on the Xbox.

If that does not help, then the last thing I would recommend is taking a look at this support article for troubleshooting the Movies & TV app in case it's the app that needs to be worked on.

To better understand the problem could you explain what 4K video file you are talking about and what app are you trying to use to view this file? Also can you further explain what an ac3 audio track is?

The DTS audio setting is so that you get DTS surround sound from the sound bar when you do anything on the Xbox, like play games or watch videos that support DTS or Dolby Digital. Do you get surround sound when playing video games or viewing videos from
a streaming service?

From your Settings go into Display & sound and then Audio output. Under Speaker audio make sure HDMI audio is set to stereo uncompressed, not off. Under Optical audio select Bitstream out and under Bitstream format select either DTS surround sound or Dolby
Digital.

Answer those questions for us and make sure your audio settings are correct.
