DS2 freezes after Character Creation

Every time I boot up my copy of Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, I spawn at the beginning, after skipping the cutscene, and head towards the first objective. I name myself, create my character and it accept. It then freezes 5 seconds into the cutscene,
the audio buzzes and then the game crashes. Skipping the cutscene produces the same result.

As of this post, I have tried 7 times to create myself, and each time I spawn now in front of the bridge, (where I fell off.) and head into the little house to recreate my character again.

I am using an Xbox One (S?) and I am relatively far away from the modem. As well, my location has terrible internet in general. My TV is brand new, although it is small. I have 6 games installed on the Xbox, along with a variety of apps. The storage says
I have around 50% memory left.

Should I reinstall? Or is there another way to fix this?

i cant wait to go pick this game up stuck at work for another 6hrs so i have been thinking about what i want my character to be i would like dual wielding with magic or archery with magic what races r best for these setups?

Update:

I tried to create my character again today, and after pressing the 'accept' button, I was greeted with the UI and a blue background. I can look and move around, and there is even something I can interact with. But all I can see, in any direction is sky blue.
There is also a curving smoke effect, and a flame affect, as if it was a campfire with no logs.

The only other things on my screen is the UI. My four item slots, with two items equipped, my HP and Stamina, and my soul count, which is at zero.

While it is possible for me to move around in this glitch, I cannot go far, as if I was stuck in a 2x2 room in Minecraft. Interacting with the UI button labled 'Open" does nothing

In testing the 'Save and Quit', my new file presents my character on screen, as well as labeling me level 14. Upon loading the save file, I have found myself in the same blue screen.

I will try relaunching the game later today, and creating a new game, in the hopes that it will improve. If it does not, and if no one responds with a better idea, I will have to reinstall the game.
