Drives On Xbox App On Windows 11 Not Working

I recently had assistance with a Xbox Support Operator. My problem was that I couldn't change my drive on the Xbox App on Windows 11. The reason I wanted to change it was because the one it originally had on default was almost out of storage and wanted to install some news games from the PC pass. When I went to change the drive in the Profile - Settings - General to my D Drive with almost 1 terabyte of storage it said: This location isn't set up for installing games. After seeing that I clicked the link that would guide me to changing where new apps would save to, in Windows - Settings - System - Storage - Where New Content Is Stored. I went to select the Drive I wanted and it said: We couldn't set your default saved location, basically an error code. I tried restarting and waited a whole day to see if it would work again, still nothing. I decided to contact support after not figuring it out myself. If I remember, the operator was Janice V. They were helpful, patient, and kind. We spent over an hour chatting on ways to fix this problem. (Changing permissions, deleting things, super techy stuff). Still, no prevail assuming it was a bug or glitch with Microsoft or Windows 11. So now I have to wait for an update fixing this problem, and was wondering if anyone else had this problem? It wasn't the operators fault just to clarify but kind of bummed, since I had just got the PC pass on the Xbox App.

Xbox app on Windows 11 can't install any game on ARM devices

well as arm is not a supported architecture for windows 11 and that most of the games in the xbox app require x32 or x64 you will have issues even in a virtual environment. the xbox app places the games in a secure folder, this folder has to be on an ntfs drive or it will not work.

Can´t install Sea of Thieves in Secondary Drive (Tried in my D:/ and O:/). Says I don´t have enough space (Windows 11 Insider Beta Channel)

Windows 11 beta channel might be refusing to play nicely with your drive selection. My dad (I havent had the guts to upgrade to Windows 11 on my any computers) upgraded to Windows 11, and some things work, some things wont.

Further, I have never had any issues switching drives when installing games. In fact, on my Surface Pro, I have managed to install and play many games on an external drive and memory card. So, the Xbox app is pretty solid when it comes to supporting multiple drives, even external ones.

So, ultimately, putting one and two together, I would say, you took a risk by upgrading to Windows 11 beta channel. This is perhaps, one of its effects. You could wait for Windows 11 updates to fix these issues. Or, go back to Windows 10 where things will work as expected.

Xbox on PC - how to move files from one drive to another

Hello TomDiPasquale! I'm Claus, an Independent Microsoft Community Consultant for Xbox! Glad to be able to help you!

If your new drive is set to NTFS and is working correctly in Windows 10/11, it is quite simple to move the game to a different drive!

    Follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows + I to open the Settings app.

    2. Afterwards, click on Apps > Apps & features.

    3. Find the game/app that you want to move.

3.1 On Windows 10, select the app title from the list.

3.2 On Windows 11, click the three vertical dots on the right side.

    4. Click on the Move button.

    5. Select the new drive from the dropdown menu.

    6. Click on the Move button again.

FH5 randomly uninstalled, now trying to install avails no result.

    >If you only have your C: drive as a site to install games and apps

I'm not downloading any games on my C drive, I download it on my F drive.

    >this only if you’re on Windows 11
    I don't have Windows 11. I am on Windows 10.
