    I picked up a second hand XBox One S, on the box is does say it's a 1Tb model. However if I check the dive size on the console it's 780GB in total. Is this normal or has the seller swapped out the drive for a smaller one?

    That's normal

    You gotta remember some of that space is reserved for system files and updates

    Also when you see 1tb it is counted as 1000 mb

    But the hdd is calculated at 1.024 MB so when 1.024x upto 1gb which makes a shortfall

    You may get 850gigs at best

    That's before the system files

    For future reference a phone, console, PC , Laptop etc has the operating system installed on the drive so unless it is a slave drive you will never see the full 100% capacity as free.

    Hi BulkiestObin, if this is a second hand HDD then chances are that the drive has corrupted/damaged segments (the xbox will just bypass these and not count them). Formatting the drive may clear some segments increasing the size
