DRIFTING! WOOHOO! But not the good kind :c

I bought my xbox one around september of last year. I spent about 70 bucks for a controller (with the charge kit) and 15-20 bucks for a charge kit for the controller that came with the console. Both controller's joysticks are starting to drift. Its a little
depressing when that is happening so soon, and im pretty sure the controllers 3 month warrenty is gone. Anybody else having these kinds of problems already? Anybody know any solutions to this?

    Discuss.

    TL;DR: QQing about controller sticks.

    :)

@ Trippul G: I understand your feelings. Not having drifting in my career makes drifting feel useless in the game so I don't do it at all. There has to be some kind of medium, less take it out altogether.

Play and charge kit you say?

    How fortunate.

Connect the controller to the console via the USB lead and go downlaod the controller updates.

Let us know how you get on after that.

Unfortunately my controllers seem to be fully updated. I'll try clicking it a few times to see if that would be helpful.

If that doesnt work, I guess i'll just be out of luck and deal with it. btw, thanks to you guys that took time to reply!

Ya that is very smart of you to say how about Microsoft builds a better controller...This has been the case for years with the Xbox.

When I got my launch white 360 that controller lasted for years and never drifted eventually the battery area cracked but the sticks never drifted.

Same goes for the very early black ones that came with the elite they where built very sturdy then around when the slim came out they cheaped out and it's been a problem every since. Some people have it and just don't notice it depends on the type of games
    you play.

Updating his controller is not going to help the solution is buy a new controller which it will happen again with or get a soldering iron and do some research.

2 ways to... Possibly... correct this problem. But both require a person 2B mechanically/electronically inclined.

    1) Replace Joystick Axis Analog Sensor(s). Plenty of "How to" vids/web pages covering this online.

    2) Clean and/or - ONLY AFTER CLEANING and the problem still exists - Adjust (Little goes a Looooong way) the Axis Sensor in the opposite direction of the drift. - (No details will be given here) - As far as I know there are no "How To" videos, nor web pages
covering the PROPER cleaning and/or adjusting of the axis sensor sensitivity spring. (That's what I call it anywho)

Know this: I am not going into any real details here, for doing so may possibly violate some forum/other rule. So for the regulars here... Even if you don't like me. Don't try to get me banned please!

Now, how to better answer the OP?

OK: I will simply say that from my experience what basically happens to these things is that gamers no longer go to the table to EAT/Drink - but rather attempt to eat/drink/game often at the same time, and by doing so we often get food particles, oil from
our hands, etc, etc, etc making their way past the opening for the thumbsticks, and Inside the controller, which in turn builds up on the PCB boards, dries, then during all OUR turning the controller L/R Up/Down, and yes even dropping them (Butter fingers)
those food/etc particles then falls from the electronic board(s) and find their way within the spaces, and UNDER the Joystick Sensor(s) where they begin causing Non- clicking/DRIFTING thumbstick problems.

We learned this while playing Halo 4 just after it's initial release, and tried clicking the L thumbstick to sprint and... NO SPRINT? - Then came the UPWARDS drift... (FPS Games are notorious for this. Why? You're constantly pressing forward, while trying
    to sprint away.)

Note: These minor problem(s) could have been avoided IF the designers included a flexible rubber covering over the hole, and tightly fitted around the thumbsticks where the thumbsticks protrude through the shell. But they didn't.(Here is where some OUTSIDE
of Sony/Microsoft designer can make some $ by designing/patenting/and manufacturing rubber boots for thumbstick style Controllers... Any takers?)

Also we gamers can prolong the enjoyment of our toys by simply taking the time to eat at the kitchen table, and washing our hands before and after eating. (Remember to chew your food well. It should take you an hour to eat dinner/etc properly) Then possibly
back to playing our games or whatever.

Side Note: I don't own a X1, but from what I can tell from online photo's the thumbstick opening in the top shell on the X1 controller isn't as.. for lack of better wording.. Say rounded UPWARDS as the 360's thus making it even easier for crud to find it's
    way inside the controller.

We have had and still use our original 360 controller for well over 4 years now, and nothing has been replaced on it except a not-so-well functioning bumper pad.

I clean our controller(s) - (Again: No details on how to here) at least once a week, and they're still going strong. Oh, and like some of you, we don't always eat in the kitchen. Thus in taking our own advise. We'll have to change that before the bad habit
FULLY rears it's ugly head.... Again!

Hope this helps answer part of your question.
