    Dredded attack of the Silver Accounts is back


    I remember a few months ago their was a spate of people who had paid for Gold and yet their consoles thought they were Silver accounts. This exact same thing happened to a friend of mine, his account was "Silvered" for about four or five weeks a few month
    ago.

    Well it looks like its back, and this time its affected me this time, went to join a party on my Xbox One and it popped up a message saying "you need gold to do that" (or whatever it was)

    I then tried to start my own party, and the same message popped up. Tried to access Games with Gold and it said the same thing.

    Been in contact with support and wouldn't you believe it, but it turns out they have had a number of people contacting them with the same problem.

    I generally prefer to use proper grammar.However , I get lazy at times.But for you to imply I would create a silver account to make a thread then attack it with a gold one is worthy of a lol.Honestly-I don't know how to get a silver membership.

    Am I screwed? suspended live account

    I used a prepaid debit card that had $1 left on it to sign up for one of the "free month of xbox live" since I knew it was an auto-pay scam.
    I thought once the month was up it would just drop me back to Silver since there were no funds.

    But they suspended my account, so now I can't do anything online with my account, including redownload games I already bought.

    Is there anyway I can change my account to silver instead of a suspended gold account without paying MS's extortion, or am I screwed?

    That is crazy, I have never had this issue. I wonder why this happens? Hopefully there is a reimbursement (1 month Gold should suffice) for those who it has effected. (Serviced not rendered)

    Never had this issue, but I did renew my Gold subscription for another year a couple months ago, and until just this past week, my Xbox One kept telling me it was time to renew...

    It seems completely random, I signed into my account when I got home, watched some TV, then my friend invited me to a party chat. I replied to him I would be ten minutes as I was eating my dinner. Ten minutes later I tried to join his party and it said
    I had a silver account.

    The weird part is that I sent him a text, and he responded saying he could no longer invite me to a party as the option on his screen was greyed out.

    So in the space of ten minutes, something screwy has happened.

    Having a silver account blocks you from joining parties? I wasn't aware that that was a limitation of a silver account - I assumed Gold was really only for playing games online and several special benefits/discounts... But parties? Really!?

    ...that's just stupid! :|

    Wow Geek I didn't know you didn't knew that. I've had no problems. Have maintained my Gold membership since 2011 (joined 2010). It's like one of my NZ friends didn't even know you could Private Chat with only a Free Account. And it's OFFICIALLY called Free
    it's not officially called Silver anymore. I do suppose that M does need the extra $$$ for connecting avatars and peps across a variety of different countries in a party of up to 8 peps.... it's a smart technology.

    However when I tried to launch a game a few weeks ago on my Xbox 1, a Dashboard message popped up "do you own this game?". I'm the only one who uses my Xbox 1 and Xbox 360 console.
