Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 character unlock help

Hello Gamers!

I am posting this thread hear as a last resort. I know nothing of Dragon ball z, yet my 5 year old son somehow got hooked on it. He started with the PS Vita's version of "Battle of Z" and that is what led him to ask me for the xbox version of the game
so he can play it on the big screen. I bought him a bundle that cam with characters, season pass, etc., but all I did was install the game. I had no idea it was a game wherre you needed to read to advance in the game. I assumed it was like "Battle of Z"

My little boy is constantly how to unlock all the characters, but I have know idea about where to start. Can someone please point me in the right direction? How many characters are there? Do you need to complete the whole game before being able to fight?
Sorry for the noob questions.

I dont know the characters names, so I don't know what to google in order to unlock them. Thanks!

Hi, I can help you no problem.

There are over 47 characters within the games and they can be unlocked through various parallel quests. Some characters are only unlocked by completing the game 100%, such as Super Saiyan 4 Goku. You should get a tutorial on how to fight at the start of
the game but if in doubt a quick trip to YouTube will help.
