Give me one decent MMO and chances are I wouldn't need another game for a long time

 

"Defiance" was a great MMO that delivered exactly what Floppy describes.

It even managed to have an in game shop that didn't unbalance gameplay but still offered cool perks to those who were happy to spend.

I don't mind paying a sub but they're benig greedy and those who support it are knifing fellow gamers in the back by supporting that greed.

I will be grabbing Elder Scrolls Online as soon as it hits the Xbox One. Could get it for my Mac, but prefere the comfort of my living room

All I can say now then, I apologise to my fellow gamers in advance because the day Elder Scrolls Online is released is the day I shall be buying it.

I just hope all new rpgs dont feel the need to go down the mmo route if elder scrolls is successful, i like the idea of it and dont mind paying a sub if its good enough to warrant it, personally for me i like to feel like im getting value for money and it
might well be the case it is value for money, im just not sure how much time i would devote to it as there are many other games i want to play an for that reason im still undecided.

On dragon age though, i really enjoyed the first but loved the second even more so, i would be happy with more of the same on a larger scale.

 

Even the people insisting they are getting TESO know the Publisher is being Greedy.

It's not easy for me to give TESO a miss since I love the Elder Scrolls series so much and could afford the subscription.

But social experiments like TESO are designed by the Publisher to see just how much money they can get people to throw at the game.

Most people playing this game don't even know these boards are here.

They will buy the game thinking they are getting "Multiplayer Skyrim" and drop it like a stone when they realise how Bethesda are trying to take them to the cleaners.

TESO could have been a great game but the Publisher just got too greedy.

And by spending so much time and money on TESO Bethesda risks having the pedestal pulled from underneath them when it comes to Generation Defining RPG's as "Dragon Age: Inquisition" looks to be the first one that ONE users will get to play with.

 

@Lofty How could you do this to your follow gamers, shame on you =( (joking btw) Hope you will enjoy it along with anyone else who's getting it. It's up to people how they spend their money, it's not back stabbing other gamers, as long as they're enjoying
what they are paying for then that's all what matters.

I personally don't like the idea of having to get a sub to play a game I've paid for and also I don't need an extra bill at the end of the month to pay for lol.

 

Ok, I'll bite.... How do you know they're being greedy Az? You don't even know how much content they'll be adding to the game or how regularly... You don't know how much it costs to maintain the servers or how much it's cost to develop the game itself...

It may turn out that you're right, but to assume they're being greedy without knowing any of that is kind of stubborn and short-sighted.

 

There is no risk to Bethesda of having the RPG "pedestal" pulled, soon as they release the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout 4 they will be massive titles.

 

@ Drunky, I do feel a little ashamed, not enough to stop me giving this game a chance though ;-p

My thinking on this is, if you didn't get the first month free then I would have definitely waited and see what the feedback is.

As you do get the first month free then I'm willing to take the chance. I've paid full price for plenty of games that I've either got bored with, or thought was total crap and stopped playing after a few days, it's always a chance this could happen.

So if after 1 day on this I think "Crap" then that's my tough luck, if I just play it for the first month and don't think it's worth the sub, then at least I've got a full months play, a lot more than other games I've played. If I think "WOW" this is a game
I'll play for a long time to come then I won't mind paying the monthly sub.

 

I think the 'greed' is coming from Microsoft who are the ones after all who have the game locked behind the Gold Subscription.

We know they can allow MMOs to run for Silver members, they did so with Final Fantasy XI, so why not with this?

Are they hoping that the Elder Scrolls name will tempt people who would otherwise remain Silver into paying out for a Gold Subscription?
