    Dragon Age: Inquisition: "Do you own this game or app?" error.


    I recently installed the Dragon Age Inquisition game sometime between May 25-June 15, 2016. Today I tried to play the game again after a two week break due to work and received the message "do you own this game or app?" I do not own a physical copy
    since all I did was go into the marketplace and download the game.

    After calling Microsoft support, they stated that they have no record of me ever purchasing the game through the marketplace or of any free downloads I've made to my account. I've checked the other two profiles that are linked to my XBOX One (both
    belong to my two sisters) and one account does not have Xbox Live and the other also does not have a purchase history of the game. No other accounts have ever been associated with my XBOX One, aside from mine and two that I have mentioned.

    I've explained countless times that I have played the game and that it was a promo given to me for being a Live member. Support confirmed that I did renew my Live account during the same time that I reported to have played the game. The first representative
    I spoke to insisted that I did not have any records of ever playing Dragon Age on my account; however, as you can see in the following photos below that I have attached, I have a record of achievements that I've made on the game. All ranged from the dates
    June 10-June 15. The representative had stated I probably downloaded a demo which I assured her I did not because I did not see a description of "This is a demo only" when I downloaded the game. I'm not familiar with the demo version (if there is one), but
    I've leveled the character as far as 10 and completed the achievements from "The Wrath of the Heaven" to "They Who Stand." I did not play the game through a friend's disc, because sadly I am the only nerd in my friend circle who would ever play this game.
    Ha.

    After asking for the manager who contacted their technician, they suspect that because of the update I did to my console, the game license probably did not carry over. They instructed that I post this question for further technical assistance since
    someone on this site is able to look deeper into my Microsoft account. Please help solve this issue. Thank you.

    I posted this in the Dragon Age Origins forum as well, as this one doesn't get as much traffic. Those of us who've completed Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening and II... we've crafted together a story unique to ourselves, in how we've played, how we've interacted
    with characters etc, all to get a save import file for Dragon Age Inquisition how we want. Well... guess what. All for nothing really as the save import feature does NOT exist with Dragon Age Inquisition. Please read:

    Ok... so this is the new way to make your backstory in Dragon Age Inquisition.... a glorified Mass Effect Genesis in laymen's terms. Kinda makes playing the first few games rather superfluous, and you just know that they'll do the same for the next Mass
    Effect game. Thoughts?

    I haven't heard of any promotions giving Dragon Age away just for being a Live member. However, EA Access does provide what they call "Free Play Days" sometimes which allows gold members to download and play certain games from the EA Access vault. While
    you can download and play them during that time, you still need to purchase the games in order to keep playing them. I know they were running Free Play Days on all of their games earlier in June (around the same time you earned the achievements) and that may
    be what you actually downloaded.

    These are community based forums so we are all mainly gamers like yourself and can't check your account any further. If phone and chat support did not find evidence of a purchase, then forum support would most likely not be able to see anything either.

    However, if you are a member of the preview program and suspect that may be the issue, you would need to post in the preview program forums -

    I chose 192 GBs of Flash Drive Space instead of Dragon Age Inquisition.

After researching your issue extensively, I discovered this issue and the solution via The Dragon Age: Inquisition support page Dragon Age: Inquisition Save Importer (ea.com). On the site, scroll down to Migrating Your Dragon Age: Inquisition Savegame and Profile on Xbox. Here is some additional information on this specific issue.

    Xbox consoles:

    • If you have preorder promotional items or Flames of the Inquisition items installed on your Xbox 360 console at the time of the export, you can import the savegame data on your Xbox One console.
      • If you do not have the same content installed on your Xbox One console, the save game loads, and you must equip alternate equipment and/or armor.
      • If you have the same content installed on your Xbox One console, the savegame loads as it appeared on the Xbox 360 console.
    Xbox consoles:

    • An online connection.
    • An Xbox 360 console system with a Dragon Age: Inquisition savegame.
    • A copy of Dragon Age: Inquisition for Xbox 360 with The Black Emporium free DLC pack installed.
    • Logged into your EA account in Dragon Age: Inquisition for your Xbox 360 console.
    • An Xbox One console.
    • A copy of Dragon Age: Inquisition for Xbox One with The Black Emporium free DLC pack installed.
    • Logged into your EA account in Dragon Age: Inquisition for your Xbox One console.
    Finally, the EA Play, Game Pass version of Dragon Age Inquisition is not the Ultimate or Game of the year edition. It is the base game. Did you own that addition digitally, or have the disc still? The support guide I provided provides the answers to why you are experiencing this issue. I hope these suggestions help!
