    Most HDMI connections wnat to see an EDID which DisplayPort is incapable of transmitting

    Many monitors leave out any hardware they think they can, like proper scaling and interpolation and EDID support.

    Which is why Xbox and Oculus Rift for example don't work with converters

    it should be enought to activate freesync on your monitor, and make sure it supports freesync over hdmi, as majority of them only support it over Dport

    Yes, it should work for what you want. The headset adapter does put audio to your headphones also, but when I tried it out it was definitely not as good as getting it from my TV. I used to use a VGA to HDMI converter similar to that to hook my laptop
    up to my TV and the picture was ok but not great. It got the job done.

    You do it with the Windows Media Center if you do it with the ethernet cable

    Or sure with the HDMI.

    You can also have a adapter for the mini HDMI you have on laptops.

    You do NOT need and Alien laptop
