DPad Problems

For some reason everytime I try to press Down on the DPad it never Responds to that.....I usually have to press down Extremely Hard on the Down On The DPad.......any response on to what the problem is.....it's a Brand New Console and Controller.....

I also just bought the 1tb MCC bundle with the new controller, however I also am having problems with pressing down on the dpad. The controller registers a down input when I perform half circle motions and when I firmly press down on the dpad. However light
taps rarely register an input.

 

Nostalgia for the Duke Controller?

I am fine with its size because I have a similar one made by MS for PC already. They called it Sidewinder or something. I do have problem with 6 buttons. It is not easy to position your thumb like that. It is like instead of zero and one (aka. Top VS down, left VS right) you get zero, 0.5, and one. And we all know the reason computer doesn't do that is because binary is less ambiguous. The PS1 layout is great because it is a binary design like I described.

Even now, people prefer PS dpad because it is a binary design. When games implemented 8 actions on Xbox dpad, I still have times pressing the wrong direction. A binary design would never open to this problem.

Anyway, if they want to fix that, they have to left me rotate the dpad myself. Let me be frank here, the big reason is dpad is a secondary control. So, when I move my thumb away from main stick to dpad, my grip isn't centered for the dpad. Thus, when my thumb think it is pressing up, it is often a little bit to the right based on my thumb length. So, if I can calibrate that myself, I would have much less problem ended up pressing top-right in the end.

A binary design is still better. But, since it is too late to do that due to gsmes supporting 8 directions, the most they can do it let me calibrate my personalized up location.

How long ago did you buy it? If you still have the receipt I would take it back to the store and exchange it. Make sure you register your console on xbox.com also. If you can't exchange it you can send it back to Microsoft by submitting a repair.

 

Do I have to send my Whole console just to get the Replacement Controller? How does that work?
