Downloads Stuck in Pending in Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8 since Yesterday's Update

Ever since the Music app update yesterday, new music I have attempted to download to my phone keeps getting stuck in a 'Pending' state. This happened to me yesterday afternoon and finally managed to download the tracks this morning (they suddenly downloaded
with no explanation), but now the same has happened again.

I have tried shutting the app and reopening, cancelling the download and trying again, turning my phone on and off again, a hard reset of my phone (power and vol down) and checking for further app updates.

Annoying to pay for a service that doesn't work correctly. Any help?

Zune software does not recognize Windows Phone 8 device

I cannot get my Windows Phone 8 device added to my XBox Music account. My Zune software does not recognize my new Windows Phone 8 device so I cannot download music to the device. Any suggestions of how to make this work?

The directions online says:

To add a Windows Phone to your Xbox Music Pass

Sync an Xbox Music Pass item you downloaded from Xbox Music Store to your device. It will be added automatically.

By the since the software does not recognize the device we cannot figure out a way to make this happen.

registering windows phone on xbox music

I think it might mean you have to sync it with the Windows Phone for Desktop app (Windows 7), the Windows Phone app (Windows 8) or even Windows 8's Xbox Music app.

I have the same issue and tried downloading one track directly to the phone (wifi). This allowed tracks downloaded via Xbox Music App and transferred to phone via Windows 8 app to play. Windows 8 app apparently does not transfer DRM to the phone on it's
own. I agree, it is a TERRIBLE music transfer app. WMP would be fine, but WMP cannot see Xbox Music "rental" content---only content downloaded using Zune software. This is a problem.

Hello, could you please clarify your situation more please. Basically where are you trying to use Xbox Music; on Xbox 360, Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8? When you try to stream any music what happens. Does it stream or give you an error or do you only get
30 seconds of the song? If you use Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 try downloading a song/album and see what happens. Does it download, or give you an error?

Hello Jogador,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Xbox Music pass, and Xbox Music are not available on Windows Phone 7 devices. Xbox Music is available on Windows 8, Windows RT tablets, Windows Phone 8, and the Xbox 360 console.

I'm now seeing this also on all downloaded content on my Lumia 920. In my case, I don't have a console. I just tried the XBOX Music Pass on my new phone. The 30-day trial auto-renewed yesterday and since then, any downloaded music will not play and will
give me this message. Oddly, I can still stream, but anything downloaded won't play (regardless of whether it is already on my phone or newly downloaded). That means, no playlists, no higher quality, etc. It was working great until yesterday when the auto-renew
took place. The XBOX support team told me I have to do a hard reset on my phone (again...this is the second time support has told me that is the only remedy for a Windows Phone 8 problem). I'll let you know if that fixes it.
