    Downloads on an external hard drive


    So my little brother often comes over to my house to download new games and updates using my internet because my parents house being in a rural area doesnt have decent internet available.

    He installs everything on an external hard drive and just transports that back and forth. When he comes over and downloads an update or a new game we verify the download is complete by checking for further updates and making sure the game is on the hard
    drive he brought with him.

    About every other time he goes back home he reconnects the hard drive to his console but the system acts like the game isnt installed or even on the hard drive even though i double and triple check to be sure it is. So it tries to redownload the game and
    he has to come back over to my house to complete it. Sometimes its the whole game being downloaded again and others it starts at about 50%.

    Anybody else experiencing this or know of a cause or fix?

    Not able to install games on 2TB external hard drive

    Have you used the External hard drive on any other systems? (PC maybe) if so this caused the hard drive to be incompatible with downloading games and you must reformat the external hard drive.

    okay instant on mode is already off because that's your way to get it to work with external hard drive it's an energy mode right now. And I have to keep the x box on in order for it to download to that hard drive. So you're saying leave the instant on mode
    off and keep it on energy mode, and try to download to the internal hard drive? if it works with the external hard drive then it should work with the internal hard drive doing it that way shouldn't it? Because it does work with the external hard drive with
    it on energy mode

    Are you downloading directly to your internal hard drive? If so, maybe try downloading to an external hard drive to see if it works.

    If u have a external hard drive connected you could of downloaded the game twice check your Xbox hard drive and external hard drive then just delete the duplicate I had the same thing happen with my and gta
