Downloading Xbox 360 GG when only have Xbox One - has rules/process changed?

Hi,

I only have an Xbox one, but in anticipation of backward compatibility have been "buying" the free Xbox 360 games with Gold via the Live web store, for last few months with no issues.

I just tried to buy Crysis 3 and it says

"Sorry

Is this your first purchase? To ensure it is compatible, please sign in to Xbox Live using your console and try again."
I obviously don't have a 360 to sign into, but I am signed ito my Xbox 1 and also the live web site (of course) - Has anyone without a 360 had this same issue? Has something changed in last few weeks?

Also is, nah, only have an Xbox 360 and a one. Never been a PC gamer. And yeah good point, I've downloaded the free to play games (still do it on my 360...Just Cause 2 is pretty damn fun atm).

I already have Titanfall for the 360, but I'll try SOM. Far Cry 4 rules hard, beat it. Working on FC:BD though atm

just a heads up, you can download the season pass for the Xbox One version of Titanfall for free. Just look for a sale, like i did, and you can pick up the XOne version of titanfall for like $7. just an option f you enjoyed the game on the 360.

 

I've been doing the same as you and downloading all the 360 games without a console. I've just tried Crysis and it worked fine, so it's got to be something your end.

Have you tried a different browser maybe? If not then maybe give support a shout to see what they suggest.

Its an issue with never having owned a 360. Not sure how you were able to "buy" the games before, but this has been an issue for awhile,

 

@ x24hrslivex - mainly because there are plenty of threads saying you can do it and many people have, that's how I found out. But additionally, they all show up in my xbox360 games as displayed on live and also showe up on the xbox 360 "download queue"
as displayed on live. Currently 6 games awaiting download

 

Just to update, I spoke with support and they at no point said "you are not allowed to do this if you don't have a Xbox 360". They have acknowledged there is an issue and will be coming back to me. Excerpt from Chat session

"It seems that there is indeed an issue regarding that Game when being availed in both console and website and since we cannot try the console Marketplace, what I am going to do here is that I am going to document this concern for you and would have this
submitted for review so that we can see if there is any other work around we can do.

For this we will email you for that work around within 48 to 72 hours as we are collating all of the affected users as well and see if there is a common cause and would let us rectify it."

 

Seems sensible as surely games are allocated to your profile and not a specific console model. Otherwise how would you DL them from this very site. Long as your Gold you should be good to go with offers for Gold members.

 

Up! This is still a persisting problem. Any update on this?

But xbox support keep saying I should have 360

 

Not from me, sorry. I was promised a response within 48/72 hours, but have not received one. I tried last night with same issue. With regard to you being told by support you need a 360, I would be interested to see that, and maybe chase it up. In addition
to the text you already quoted from Major Nelson, In my live chat with support they said I should be able to download and did NOT need a 360. I kept full copy of the chat log.

 

As I said above games are not linked to consoles they are linked to your profile, so in effect you should be able to add them to your download queue from this site with no console involved if you are Gold. Support are talking cobblers.

 

@markmoore793 yeah I know. should be able to get this because of gold even if I don't have a 360. Didn't keep my chat log, I only read this thread after that chat with xbox support.

for my part, I went and logged on to my Daughters Xbox 360 and got the game via the console. Sad that I had to do it that way though

 

I got both. And I hope more games be added to the preview members.
