it makes no sense that when u buy a copy of a game and have the actual disc that u need to wait what seems like forever to download and then even start the game. And when u remove the disc u still have to have it in order to play..what exactly is it downloading
and why does it need to do this it is aggrevating to say the least never had to wait for a download on 360 when u put the disc in u should be able to play right away..not a question just thought id share cuz im sure everyone else feels the same as me and microsoft
    needs to change this

    :)

When you put the disk in it doesn't actually download the game. It installs the game on your Xbox. Installing a game off disk is a lot quicker than downloading the digital game. A lot of times if you are installing the game it will also download any updates
to the game at the same time. This can make things run slower. So I would suggest waiting to download the update after you install the game.

Also, the reason that you still need the disk in the Xbox to play the game after you have installed it, is to ensure that you still own the rights to play that game. Otherwise, people could just go rent a game and play it forever.

I am not 100% sure why this console needs to install games rather than just play it off the disk. I would assume it is because games now days have a lot more data. And the console would not be able to process that amount of information
properly off disk run the game. You need to remember back in the days of the 360 games on average would only be 4GB. Now on the Xbox one your average game is 30GB. This might also be Xbox's way of quality insurance, to ensure that all games run the best they
    can.

    Hope this helps, Happy Gaming!!!!

    download time

    Greetings VirulentBear5,

'Normal' for downloading on Xbox LIVE is subjective. It all depends what your Internet speed is from your provider and what you are trying to download. Could you run
this speed test, post back your results and tell us what it is you are trying to download? Thanks.

From what I've experienced you can't play a game online while it's updating on the Xb1 and frankly I can't stand this. So sure the offline/Disc thing is quicker though the moment you're back online the "Needs an Update" nag will come on and basically not
let you play until that's done. Would be nice if you instead got the message reading "would you like to play while updating" though I guess this isn't an option coming to the ms console any time soon with the fragments of "always online" still affecting us.
No biggie really, just annoying since this isn't a multi platform problem.

Average install, time from disc is between 20 to 45 minutes with my console connected (wired). On 150Mb Fibreoptic. The disconnect trick works apparently but I've never had to use it.

The fastest way to install a new game if you have it on disc is to disconnect from the internet.

    Let it load completely.

Then reconnect to the internet and open the game.

This will then prompt it to download any updates.

I find if I just play something else for a little bit the updates are done before I even think to check on them.

The problem with comparing to Xbox 36 games is the massive difference is size.

On Xbox 360, game downloads were usually 5-8GB for a big game. CoD: AW is 45GB or so.

There have also been widespread issues with everyone's downloads for this game being slow, which certainly does not help.

It very much depends on your download speed too (and the massive increase in size between Xbox 360 and Xbox One) but your future downloads should be faster than Advanced Warfare, which has been affected by some issues.
