downloading MP4's onto Xbox One

I have a collection of mp4's I was hoping to download to xbox one. So far as I can tell there is no way to do this. Is it possible to put my mp4's on an external drive then plug that into the xbox? Will it recognize my mp4's on the drive?

These are a few of my questions about the new system.

thinking about downloading something in mp4 and avi , does the xbox support both?

MP4 Playback Help Please.

I have a few Mp4's on my flash drive that I want to watch. A couple work and then one doesn't. I was wondering what are the restrictions for Mp4's to be able to be played back on my 360.

And MP4 isn't?

The point being that any video file type can be uploaded to a torrent site for others to download. It is not restricted to one file type. You'll likely find MP4's are more commonly pirated than MKV.

Well no mate, I appreciate the heads up as I will be watching 3D films and stuff, but probably downloaded mp4's and such... ahem

I can stream mp4's and mkv's on the media player.

1. try renaming the files. sometimes when they're too long they don't show up or won't show up until i rename them.

2. try with wifi instead of hard wired

3. you have to go into network and sharing settings and give the xbox one pemission to to view your pc media library.

4. try different files. go on youtube and download an mp4 and put it on your usb stick and try it.
