Downloading is garbage

you know I'm not too sure why I get myself excited every time a new game is coming out. I forget that I always need to wait for forever in order for it download. I understand completely and am patient every time. Except for this time, which is why I'm
complaining. I bout gears yesterday and didn't play anything on the console while it was downloading. This morning at 315 it said 36%, which is whatever. Now I just get home from working all day and what the hell does it say when I check it?! 36 freaking percent!!
Can someone explain to me why I must wait yet another day to play a game that basically real eased almost 2 days ago? Like I said I understand completely that it needs to be downloaded, but gone for almost 12 hours and no progress? That's insane! I should
get some free skins for this crap or wait id just be happy to play!!

Iv'e been downloading CoD: BO3 beta for about 12 hours and my download has just hit 3% complete,

and i'm running a 160 mbps download speed connection.

^A good possibility. IMO, the worst thing to do is buy a game, or pre-order it, only a few days before it's released. If I pre-order a game, I do it weeks (at the very least) in
advance.

What makes it worse is that sometimes the connection will just freeze. It gets stuck at a certain place, doesn't time out, it just sits there. I usually wait about 1/2 hour and
that's it, if the DL percentage hasn't changed for that long, I automatically assume it has frozen. Then I go into 'My Games / Apps' and find the game in the que, pause the installation, wait a few minutes and resume it. If that doesn't get it moving again,
I usually power cycle the console.

Although TBH, I rarely have problems with game DLs because I refuse to start one when I know the servers will be super busy.

 

i was able to download BO3 yesterday in less than an hour, so i think A Blue Illusion hit the nail on the head, pause the download and restart it, or power cycle the console.

 

I dont know what is happening but that's why i prefer disks and i don't buy digitally. It took me 6 hours for bo3 beta cause of the overloaded servers

 

zero divided you download that fast cause you were lucky. Many people couldn't download because of the bug that happened. But you could that's you downloaded that fast

 

@ELES1234567890, could be right, i do live only a few miles from a MS server farm that i know houses some Xbox Live servers, just not sure which parts of Live they host.

 

they probs brought out that feature where you can pre download the game before it's released to ease the demand on the servers for first day release downloader's

I guess its not being used as much as Microsoft would like it to be used

seems a bit of a broken promise if you paid for it then cant download it before its released on disk lol

If you do not know.. while you were downloading that game. were you on your PC? Streaming music on your phone, someone else on network on Netflix...?? I hope most people do know that the more bandwidth you are using, the slower your DL will be... AND if
you have crappy internet to begin with it only make it worse...

 

It took me 18 hours to download and install Halo The MCC collection, had it been on PS4 I'd still be downloading it. Xbox One is not as fast as I would like, but it's still a lot faster and a huge improvement compared to my PS4.

 

On release day every man and his dog will be trying to download the latest game. The more people downloading at one time it's gonna be slow. You could always preload a month or two in advance or wait a week or two after a game releases to download.

 

Probably server over load like some said with BO3 and Gears. But you figure with most kids headed back to school that freed up some servers.
